You couldn't pick Bonino out of a lineup before he was a Penguin. Dailey wasn't playing well before he got here either. The system helped make the players game bloom. Now they are getting paid, you can't fault them for that, but you also can't fault the team for not wanting to overpay. The core is in place, the role players will change. It is what it is.

Gonna miss Matt Cullen, but happy he is at home now, with his family. This is likely his last year in the league.
@justinwalters79537 жыл бұрын
When you are a Cup champion and a free agent, you're going to think you're worth more money than you're worth. And other teams will overpay for them simply because they've won a Cup. Kudos to the Pens organization for thinking with their heads and not their hearts and letting other teams overpay.

whos better we will never know work ethic-Crosby skillset-Crosby points-Gretzky (obviously) two-way player-Crosby better team-Gretzky awards Crosby aint done yet! and I watched hockey of the 80s its a debate that will go on forever, Lemieux is in the equation as well if he stayed healthy we would be having a different conversation ,I believe
@steelfan816 жыл бұрын
if i remember correctly, even gretzky said that mario was the better player than him. don't we all wonder "what could have been"?
@bobzcassidy31276 жыл бұрын
Mario had cancer but don't make to many excuses Wayne was the man but Orr was a mcdavid that speed was unmatched just like most of these elite players. there all fast but certain ones like Gretzky mcdavid Sid
@lucarossi89136 жыл бұрын
Willie G Lemieux is better then gretzky lol, i would put crosby either 2nd or 3rd all time, u put crosby in the 80s and he scores over 200 pts each season, look at what he’s done in the salary cap era and the lowest scoring era in hockey, over 1000 pts in not even 800 games

casey brune - Hate losing these guys but we could see it coming. Kuni was so big in the playoffs. He made that Hornquist goal possible, scored the series winner against the Sens. We did keep Shultz. That's big!

@butterohalloren23387 жыл бұрын
Let's just keep things in perspective here... Hainsey was just a stop-gap rental player from the start. Daley hadn't played particularly well all season (and once again had injury issues)... For being 33 (soon to be 34), don't you think his annual cap hit of >3 million is a little bit much? Bonino definitely added a lot of positive intangibles to the Pens so while his loss hurts, I don't think a 3rd line center like he really is should get >4 million/year - I'll be interested to see how he does in Nashville where they'll probably try to plug him into a 2nd line C role. I'll concede I'm sad that Kunitz is gone, especially since it seems like the Pens didn't even try to bring him back (which I think is somewhat low for a franchise like the Pens)... granted, W is something of which the Penguins have an excess so beyond nostalgia and loyalty there really was no reason to bring him back.
@maengun20917 жыл бұрын
Butter O - Kuni just possessed those intangibles. Such a competitor, and a clutch performer who knew how to win. He also added some needed toughness. One of my favorite Pens. But I figured he'd be gone.

back to back cups and the coach and gm immediately compleatly dismantle the team. something smells rotten in the management department at the Pens organization.
@PenSteelersPirates867 жыл бұрын
R Bush in JR we trust. GM has been here 3 years and won 2 cups. First team to go back to back. Pens are still a deep playoff threat before the season starta...why? Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, Letang, Murray, Guentzel, Sheary, Rust...still a good core group. Can't be mad if they lose in the postseason next year being that they've played 20+ more games than any team the last 2 years.
