Can I please come hang out with y’all for a day and learn? Or perhaps just have a guitar nerd therapy session? Or both?

Everything I've ever played with Grovers on it has been kickass. Maybe because folks don't put good tuners on mediocre gitties. Tuners affect tone according to some folks in the biz. I'm about ready to find out.

They do not affect tone whatsoever, however they do make it easier to tune your guitar and you’ll be more in tune because they have better gear ratios and smoother operations so any perceived tone is just the fact your in tune lol

Drawback of the open tuners is that dirt and grime will eventually clog upp the gears and act as sanding paper on the gears making it loose the tight fitment of the cogs. Then it will not hold tune anymore

I like the look of open gear Grover’s but I feel the closed case Grover’s are smoother to turn I this it’s because they aren’t getting dust or other things in them gumming up the gear ?

Vintage style Grover tuners are 23/64's or 25/64's. Not trying to be a know-it-all, just saying that little difference between 3/8's to 25/64's (or 11/32's to 23/64's), makes a big difference in fitment...

My Grover Rotomatics are too heavy. I'd like lighter tuners to keep the neck from dropping.

I just bought a martin hd28 with grovers and it’s not too bad but it’s crazy how heavy it really makes the neck

hey I was wondering if all acoustic guitars have mid-size tuners. the gears on my tuners are messed up when I wind it. So I was wondering if a mid size grover will do?

I have a 12 string Sigma D12-3 that I bought from a antique store this past summer. I was looking at replacing the original tuners as a couple of them turn pretty hard, binding maybe. Soaked them in Naphtha for a time then applied a small amount of guitar lube on the gears. Still a couple of them turn pretty hard. Thinking of replacing them with Grover 205C12. I see that these only use one screw hole compared to my originals using two. Do you see any complications of me using these Grover Tuners on this Sigma? Great video. Thanks.

Good video. I remember hanging out at your shop and playing many guitars while I was attending law school in Lansing. Good times. Are the open tuners meant for acoustic and not electric solid bodies? I like the 18:1 ratio on the grover open back and I was thinking of putting them on my Les Paul.

I have a Yamaha 413SL that has closed tuners. I think they slip and loosen. If I over tighten a little bit then back off to get in the tune range it feels like they lose tension but yet it’s now tuned. Not a good feeling of confidence that it will stay that way. I want to upgrade but the guitar sounds good so I’m like why bother? Will upgrading to a better guitar make it easier to learn?

I have an old Levin from about 1966. One of my tunes is bending at the tuner grip and I worry it will break off. Do you know where I can source a single tuner?. I live in Scotland.

wish you would’ve spent 15 more seconds on the tab with the screw part. remember that most who watch have never done this before people who know aren’t even watching how to

Hi I just bought a Martin HD28 special and it sounds totally amazing. Best guitar I have ever played or heard. It has everything but the Grover tuners are closed not open. I actually kinda prefer the closed tuner look but am I wrong? Should I have made sure it had closed tuners? I mean I just can’t imagine it sounding any better but do open tuners on an HD28 make it sound even better than it already does it is it more if a look and style thing? Please let me know I just feel a little frustrated. I guess I could put open tuners but it doesn’t seem necessary. Please give me your thoughts. Thanks! Oh and I have no problem keep it in tune even if I am playing for a while and using a capo etc. Ryan

I have an HD28 with the schaller open gear tuners. While they look nice, I've had problems with them. One might be easy to turn, another you feel like you're going to break it it turns so hard. I guess they will send a replacement but it seems the problem will eventually turn up again. I'm currently looking for a fix to this problem that doesn't involve drilling. I would love for these to work. Maybe If I put less winds on the post. Idk yet. But I guarantee you don't have this issue with Grover sealed tuners.

Maybe you could shoot your next video in a bus station. It would lessen the background noise.
