I love these K1600's! I only wish, and I know you can memorize their locations, but I still wish the buttons and controls on the handlebars were illuminated at night like the Honda Goldwing. It would look so amazing on these already incredible looking machines! I was hoping the updated versions would have this, but they do not, unfortunately. They should have had these illuminated controls starting in 2011, if I'm being honest. Everything else... Perfect, in my opinion!

I had the 2020 GSA R1250, loved it, sold it to take a year or so off and go caravanning, thought I’d come back and by the RT when I was done, such an excellent ride but then got offered a ride on a K1600 GT, just wow, slight change of plans ahead.

Why can't you build a K1600 GT with that Blue from the GTL, or the Transcontinental? I am waiting to buy one until the GT gets colors. Still waiting for my R 1250 RT to arrive at the end of the month. Yes it is BLUE.

I just want CarPlay. It’s a very convenient function. Just don’t understand why bmw motorrad don’t upgrade the big screen with the CarPlay. Gold wing have it. harley-davidson have it.

I would have preferred the same in-built map solution as the cars where map upgrades are via the phone, but as they didn't provide that I have no idea why they built their own version of Android Auto/Apple Car Play. Do BMW Motorrad just have an unlimited budget to compete with Apple & Alphabet? This isn't what they do with their cars.

Just came across this video and looking at the comments I currently ride a 2011 Harley tourer it has zero tft screens, zero cruise control and no abs. I ride all over the place logging in 5k to 8k miles a season before the snow comes. Can’t tell you how much $$ I’ve sunk into the bike. I do my own work and maintenance which saves a lot on ownership. Looking at the K1600 bikes I’m very interested in getting one to expand my horizons and the k1600 fits the bill. Riding isn’t about hedgers it’s about the open road and spending time with your friends.

The only reason BMW didn’t put adaptive cruise control on this bike is because they want to play the technology throttling game like Apple does. This year you get led lighting, next you’ll get navigation, and the year after that key fob with remote locking. There is no reason other that tech throttling that adaptive cruise control was not put on this bike and reviewers are skipping over it quickly. Makes one wonder if BMW made the topic a no go zone.

Well done Toni! Bravo! Love the Adaptive headlights and phone charging port big enough to hold Plus size smart phones. Good job with this. Next upgrade should be Blind Spot Indictors in the mirrors. Details are important right? BMW is the leaders. Question have these wonderful motorcycles finally been updated to include “backlit handlebar switches” for night riding?

"BMW is the leaders". It would seem not when you yourself list things they fail to provide. I have read and watched many comparison tests between the K1600 and the Gold-Wing and the mighty Honda wins almost every time. It would seem therefore that Honda are the leaders.....probably why their Gold-Wing doesn't lose 50% of its value within 3 years like the K1600 does..

I was told it was something about integration with the brake system but to be honest I would rather have ACC that just uses engine braking. That would be better than the current CC. A halfway solution would have been better than no solution. ACC is really useful in contraflow traffic and I rarely use the brakes just the throttle.

Call me a party pooper but surely this type of motorcycle is at home mostly on motorways/autobahns etc which are predominantly well lit but it is essential in modern traffic to have adaptive cruise control on these roads. I’m sure BMW cars would not say “shall we have good headlights or adaptive cruise control?” So why is Motorrad treating their customers like they can’t have too much excitement. Ironically enough when Motorrad first introduced ACC it was advertised on a simulation of guess what? K1600. So Motorrad come on, if you are serious about safety get that ACC on these bikes. BTW I have no axe to grind as I own a BMW but I am a road safety advocate and UK driving trainer.

The only thing you missed out is that it's not actually possible for normal riders to get these bikes, ordered in October, promised in March, date changed to May. So trips planned for Easter and May ruined by BMW. BMW have delivered bikes to dealers and journalists but cannot deliver to customers who ordered 6 months ago. What an arrogant company, my M8 will be my last BMW car. And my K16, my last bike, spring and summer ruined, complete rubbish.

Some of us want more power, more load capacity, and a bike better suited for long distance, 2-up touring... I've owned RTs, great bikes! But they don't compare to the K1600..

The connectivity is a big disappointment with no wireless charging. No voice control or Alexa like the cars. No integration with BMW Connected. Complete reliance on a phone for the sat nav. no ability to use WiFi from the SIM built into the bike instead you have to drain the battery on your personal phone. Please BMW check out what your cars can do and put onto your flagship bikes and stop living in the past with the Wonder Wheel. Here's what their cars can do. If they were going to move away from Garmin why didn't they align with their current connected programme so riders get the same experience as drivers. GT owner and rider here. So many things on this bike are good but there are so many that are disappointing too. Riding position is tiring and cause back pain on even 2 hrs trip, handle bars should be brought back a bit and more comfortable seat is needed. Wind and weather protection is lacking, too much wind. Even my old RT and LT has better protection than this so called "State of the art" bike. BMW is too focused on Technology and gimmicks than on what actually matters. I do NOT care about Apps or Phones on bikes. I DO care about reliability and ease of service. Main headlight light bulb went out, instead of a 5 minute job it took on other BMW bikes I owned, on the GT it was a royal pain to access and replace. I finally had to remove the Handle bars to get to the light then the stupidly designed metal clip is almost impossible to lock into place. Do I really need to pay BMW dealer $500 to replace a light bulb ?? Then there are these stupid Tire pressure sensors which keep going out. Who needs this Garbage ? If you're too lazy to check your own tire pressure then you can order these as an Option. Some people say Oh, you can change the seat and Windshield to better after market ones. But if you are paying such a hefty price for these bikes, why should you pay more to change things?? These bikes should have the type of Wind protection the Old LT bike had with the bigger windshield and side winglets. Then you have the totally Useless and UN-Reliable ESA Shocks. Cheaply made, many owners end up having to replace them at 30,000 Miles or so at considerable cost. So you have an expensive bike that will basically take you to the Poor house because of the cost of Maintenance and replacement of Un-reliable parts and Technology. The built quality could be so much better. That IS what BMW should focus on instead of all this Tech and gadgets.
