I can't even begin to stress how nice he is. I went to NAMM this year, and I brought my entire Nitro collection, almost two backpacks worth. He looked at me, said "Oh, you brought the mother-lode.". Then he signed everything I have. Took like 45 minutes, he was happy to do it, told me facts about things as he was signing, and other various Nitro stuff. To top it off, we took a bunch of pictures together. If you ever get to meet him, or see him play, DO IT.

@cubasilver If you know so much about studio programs then you know about Pro Tools. Look, we do not want to start an argument, we are just setting the record straight on what MAB uses. Michael records and mixes using Pro Tools. He has a lot of equipment in his studio. If you see a mixer lying around, what does that mean? That he has a mixer lying around, that's it. There are also more rooms in his studio than what is covered here in the video.

@StratocastLesPaul MAB has 7 signature Dean Guitars models - the "MAB Signature Series" that are available in music stores all over the world. Michael also has a T-Rex signature Over Drive pedal, available everywhere, that artists like Mark Tremonti (Creed) have in their rig and even George Lynch have used.

@chucke1963 'funky ass equipment?" So Pro Tools, multiple Mac computers, extremely expensive hand made USA guitars by some of the most famous builders in the world, dozens of high end fx and outboard gear constitute "funky ass equipment?" Maybe he should have a Tascam 4 track cassette recorder. You would probably think that is cool.

@audibleobsession MAB now has over 100 guitars in his collection at this time. Many are made by famous companies like Charvel, Jackson, B.C. Rich, Dean, Fender, Gibson, etc... If that isn't impressive to you, than you just don't understand about high end and vintage USA guitars.

@JamoZ46 No you are not a sheep, you are a turkey. We are talking about being on the same "level." The fans voted for all 3 of them and MAB won the award for being most popular in that category. What you stated was false. This has nothing to do with liking Michael or not.

His music is great. he was signed to not 1 but 2 major labels and has a lot of great solo CDs. Can't you come with something new already? This is as stupid as saying that someone who has great technique cannot possible have feeling. This is the 21st century already.

The device is called the "MAB String Dampener." Michael invented and improved it, based on an idea from George Van Eps and has a patent on it. The MAB String Dampener is great for tapping, cleans up your playing and is available at Michael's site.

@StratocastLesPaul The Double-Guitar is MAB's worldwide trademark. Steve Vai copied it and gave MAB credit for being the first one to invent it. So we guess by your logic, Steve Vai sucks too because he played a version of MAB's Double -Guitar.

I saw MAB at the Cavern in Liverpool last night. Awesome show! From a purely technical standpoint MAB has mastered the instrument - no doubt about it. However his musical output is a little disappointing for someone of such talent. Many guitarists have written, in my mind, superior music without having a fraction of MAB's talent. Having said that, I have played the guitar for many years and I know that I will NEVER be anywhere near as good as MAB, so respect is due!

There seems to be this pattern of technically-gifted guitarists being quite nice and down to earth in person with some occasional silliness thrown in: Batio, Paul Gilbert, Buckethead, Mattias Eklundh, Ron Thal, Guthrie, Christophe Godin, etc. They're possibly the coolest kinds of people to just hang out and bullshit with all day.

FANATISM isn't good thing....take it as lesson...

they are string dampeners ;) They r used for tapping sequences , so that other strings don`t ring out, but mab uses 2 of those on the double guitar, because he can`t control muting just with every hand on each fretboard, so he uses those. Mab does not need them anyway....i heard stuff from shock em dead on the double guitar without them, and still sounded clean so... Mab is GOD!

He's had a new four neck guitar built by dean guitars and he'll be using it in the near future. Digg around his website for more info, the new quad has a similar kickass graphic like his signature armofrlame.
