Great episode - I had never heard of this case before. I'm totally shocked at how quickly Dillingham got the needle though. There must have been some odd circumstances because MOST death row inmates don't get their dates for 20+ years after being sentenced. Very confusing how they were able to do it within 7 years!

Yeah, I heard of this story and have seen it on a few on crime channels, and I always wondered the same thing...I know it's Texas and all, but death row inmates still usually stay years on death row and 7 years or so was all it took for this dude, it's perplexing. And I haven't seen or heard as to why. Or just why, in general, someone dies sooner than others. The one thing I can think of is when a quicker death comes to an inmate, that maybe they just didn't follow thru with their appeals. And allowed their fate to come sooner rather than later

"Hang 'em high Texas". America one of the few western countries to give the death penalty to a minor. He was 17 at the time of the crime and clearly seemed to have some mental deficiencies. His confession to the investigators was likely naively thinking he had to tell the truth. Where were his parents when he confessed? They should've helped him to lawyer up and maybe he would've got life imprisonment instead. In another country his confession might have been thrown out because of his age and lack of representation at the time.

This was a miscarriage of justice, no question. If Jeffrey Dillingham got the death penalty by lethal injection (he was executed on November 1st 2000, aged 27), then his two accomplices in the brutal murder of 40-year-old Caren Koslow and attempted murder of her husband Jack Koslow in their home, should have been executed too. That's the couple's stepdaughter /adopted daughter Kristi Koslow, and her boyfriend Brian Dennis Salter. Kristi Koslow masterminded this crime aged 17, along with the man she was sleeping with at the time, her then 19-year-old lover Salter - he brought his pal Dillingham on board, also 19, on the promise of a $1million fee. Apparently Salter lacked the balls to kill two unarmed, sleeping people in their beds, alone! Salter was a coward before he committed this crime, and he remained a coward afterwards - as did his scumbag girlfriend Kristi Koslow, who started the whole, revolting sequence of events in motion. Without her, there would have been no crime committed, and Caren Koslow would not have been violently murdered by two young males, her life horrifically ended at just 40. Kristi's motive? She was angry her adoptive dad divorced her adoptive mom. Boo-hoo! It's irrelevant that Kristi Koslow wasn't present at the crime scene, during these deparved, bloody murders. Kristi came up with the double-murder plan, she directed events, and she gave the two killers the security codes and floor plan to the home, to enable them to commit the crime. She very sensibly didn't physically take part, so she could convincingly play the innocent after her parents' deaths (though despite her intentions, her hated adoptive father miraculously survived). In many people's view, Kristi Koslow's sly cowardice makes her worse than the killers! If you had to apportion blame for this heinous crime, the man who wound up executed for it was actually the least culpable! In the view of any reasonable person, it's clear all three were at least equally to blame. So why did one, Dillingham, live with the shadow of his execution for years before being killed? The other two languish in prisons to this day, allowed to live and given taxpayer funded bed and board until they die of natural causes. WRONG!

3 people took part in murder, one was executed and the other two will likely be out on parole in another 5 years. I can’t say I believe justice was done here. The guy who got the death penalty should’ve taken the deal but he didn’t, his fault. Regardless, the other two should’ve received life without parole. They having the luxury to dream of freedom one day when all the other guy look forward to was death wis sad but most of all it’s a miscarriage of justice for the victims and their families.

Leave it to police to wanna pin it on one of the victims despite his injuries being so brutal, there was no possible way he set that up. Ya an elderly man slit his own throat and beat himself with a crowbar (and could have easily also succumb to the injuries like his wife did) for show. Smh. Most who set this type of thing up are not injured at all miraculously, or have very superficial wounds. This is why people have less and less faith in police and even feds. They always manage to get it wrong or completely fubar the evidence collection or investigation so when the proper person(s) are caught, the state has a weak case so the perpetrators get off or very minimal time behind bars.

They would have gotten true Life, if the sentence had been Life without Parole. Getting just Life, in many states, means that after serving a certain amount of years ( usually 25 to 35 or more), you are then eligible for parole, which you may receive or not.

I wonder if they were having previous instances with the daughter that made them fear what she may do? I say this because if you notice in the photos of their bedroom door, there was a padlock keeping it locked from the inside. So, when the parents went to sleep, they for some reason felt the need to lock themselves in their bedroom while they were sleeping. 🤔 I know it's not that unusual for some people to have one of those doorknob locks on their bedroom door, but to feel like you need to lock yourself in your bedroom with a padlock is on a different level of scared (of something, or someone).

The prosecutor was right to chiefly target Kristi, and it is obvious he couldn't hide the overwhelming disappointment+raw anger he felt towards Dillingham and his blatant denial of any cooperation in that regard. So much so he couldn't even hide his surging vindictiveness towards Dillingham as he single-mindedly pursued for nothing less than the Death sentence. His interview and his overall demeanour, after Dillingham's judgement was pronounced, betrays his emotions of guilt he was beginning to struggle with. Therefore it was good to see him acknowledge it in this documentary and having obviously worked towards his own healing. May God help him.

Poor guy! He made all the wrong decisions in his life. Sometimes, when you’re young, you’re impulsive! You tend to do d*mb things without thinking about consequences. This guy is the perfect example of that. He associated himself with the wrong people who probably manipulated him into doing horrendous crimes and he didn’t think about the result of that decision and he paid big time with his life. He caused so much pain not just for the family of the deceased but more so for his family since he was the only child. How heartbreaking would it be to lose your only child whom you’ve raised with your hands and with your heart. May be serve as a lesson for the youth not to associate yourself with people with criminal minds because if you’re easily persuaded, you will end up behind bars or dead. You have your free will, choose good over evil. Life is great, just look straight ahead using your heart, brain and common sense and you’d be good. He got his narcissism from his parents . That's why they told him to reject the plea bargain . He chose to go to trial looking to be found not guilty as his parents were looking for his acquittal . His parents believed he was innocence because he obviously never told them what he had done, not even confessing to the crime . They found out about everything at trial . This honor student just thought he was smarter than everyone else . If Jeff came from a well to do family, why would he need to commit a crime in exchange for money 🥴 ? The only mental issue he had was delusions of grandeur . The lead prosecutor was so thorough in his statements during his interview, such a delight .

I have nothing but contempt for the prosecutor Robert Mayfield, for pursuing the death penalty against a defendant, in order to pressure a defendant to testify. There are other ways to do that.
