I replied above to Tobia Apolloni’s post, “came to the video, stayed for the pants” with this: “Love the comment. I’m concerned that a 10 year old girl somewhere is missing a purple shirt, but I can’t figure out where he got the pants.” I’d like to thank you for letting me know that it’s laser tag apparel. I could have spent a significant amount of time (~18m50s) thinking about this. Thank you for sparing me the agony. I can now pay full attention to the “facial profiling” of shady folks. 🖖

I did a research paper on cues trust and dominance for a senior project, we looked at face width a bit too but other reliable cues to indicate trust are eyeglasses, smiles, Duchenne smile is slightly better but really doesn't matter, and also the most interesting, being pictured in an affluent background. Overall interesting stuff with huge implications for how we perceive people in court cases, public figures, potential dates, strangers etc.

One of those instances where different studiess seem to give opposite results on the same question. I remember distinctly having heard about a study (or even several ones) where slim or long faces where the ones that were judged less trustworthy and round ones were rated trustworthier. Now, I know that " I've heard of a study" is not an exact reference. But it points me to believe that findings might not be without strong contradictions in this field of research and people shouldn't adopt these theses into their everyday life.

The part about wider (more masculine) faces making you less trustworthy surprised me the most. Especially since everyone since "everyone" accuse women of being the deceitful ones, so you would think more feminine looking people were seen as less trustworty. Then again I think nobody should be jugded that much on their face alone (or their gender for that sake) as there are many individual varieties and its just not fair to jugde someone for something out of their control

I jog a mile every day, I have a strict and well-tested washing regiment, and my diet is great. And yet, I have more acne than most everyone around me. I'm more healthy than most teens, but look less so. It's fucking frustrating. I use face wash, salicylic acid, and lotion twice a day, at moderate water temp, I've cut out dairy and processed food almost entirely, I drink enough water, and I eat loads of vegetables in a widely varied and regular diet. I'm 17, and male, so I can only surmise it's hormones and genetics at work, but I'm considering medication now.

Try only taking freezing showers (Comes with boatloads of benefits, clear skin being one of them). Stop eating sugar. Its a test of willpower, Good luck

Seth R.C let me give you what worked for me. Cut out red meat, dont take creatine supplements, drink freshly squeases red juice from naturally red fruits, if none of that works use the most light antibiotic monocycline. Its not about hormones its about metabolic chages that coincide with puberty and you not adjusting diet to reduce the sudden change.

Seth R.C gotta say man, I took roaccutane for six months, best decision of my life. I used to be so acne ridden, all over me, now I only get the rare sole spot. Shit has its problems, but it helped me out so so much, worth a go imo.

Seth R.C Maybe the chemicals in the face wash are causing your skin to react? Perhaps look at more natural options. Also, at 17 we all look weird and awkward and break out often, don't sweat it! Look into intermittent fasting, some people report better skin. As another commenter suggested, reduce sugar intake and stay away from processed sugars. Avoid medication, it might fix your skin but will tax your body in other ways.

Seth R.C While at your age, with all the effort you're putting in, genetics is probably a major factor, you can probably reduce the acne a little more: -The cold shower suggestion works wonders. Just blast your face with full cold water for a minute before you leave the shower, and you will have overall healthier skin (and hair too probably,) no BS. - Possibly cut down on your product use. I've actually gotten better results from salicylic acid by only applying it once a day and cleansing with cold water at the other end of the day. Something about the self-produced oils, methinks; moisturizer lotion never seemed to work very well.

Now that's why you buy TWO packs of that hair color, just in case the first pack finishes halfway through the project and the shop's closed...or moved.

@firstnamelastname9045 жыл бұрын
He said it's not about skin color, it's more about skin undertones. All skin colors have an undertone, and even though people can have a preference for a skin color, most of the time people will choose the skin with more healthy undertones. @6:27 to @8:46 explains it well.

egal he did mention attractiveness, a lot of the things we find attractive were cues for health in the ancestral environment. However, this is all statistical- just because this commenter happens to find pale more attractive doesn’t mean anything, even if we assume it’s true. There are always anomalies

Javier Bonilla The relationship between carotenoids and skin color is strong??? The graph almost shows the perfect cloud of dots that you get when your R^2 is 0.2. The following graphs are equally weak.
