This is definitely one of my favorite scenes from an incredible film. I can’t remember ever seeing a movie that I wished so badly to be true like I did this one. It’s especially hard not to get caught up during the rescue scene. I actually had to remind myself afterwards that what I saw was fiction.

Jon's Dimension virtually all of it is possible in fact the one thing that is impossible is the storm in the beginning due to the lower density of the Martian atmosphere
@aleksanderginter6 жыл бұрын
Although I love this film, it is a scientific crap. For example- the scene where the hub explodes and Matt covers the hole with a foil. Brief calculations: Inside pressure- 1 bar, outside pressure- 600 pascals (source: wikiedia) Force=pressure/surface Force= difference between inside and outside pressure ( 1013 hPa (1 bar)-600 Pa = 100 700 Newtons/square meter) That is equal to 10 700 kg/m^2. If only we had foil that can withstand that. Gravity- another fuck-up form hollywood. He'd be rather jumping on mars IRL due to it strengh (over 2,5 times less than on earth). I'm too lazy to continue this, so I'll just link this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXTbgmaejq2lkM0 I love this film, but if u want to see a good one, especially Sci-fi, u have to forget about physics (Star Wars suits ideally for this example). @PapaHepatitis71702 жыл бұрын
well you see the biggest issue with book-movie adaptations, is that books don't usually have an hour and a half run time, especially when most book-movie recreations are primarily childrens books, so theres alot of filler needed, but I do agree that book movies are much better when adapted straight from the book instead of having filler, but that was only possible because there was enough content in the book to not warrant a need for any filler content

Fun fact this was the political argument used by colonizers to 'argue' that indigenous people never owned the land of america bcs they never grew crops on them (ressources were plenty abundant so gathering and hunting was sufficient) and so by their definition they had every right to appropriate the land as soon as they would grow crops on it
