Really, Bret’s win in the WCW world title tournament in 1999 is about the only properly good moment they had for many years. And of course, Bret’s promo to start the next night’s Nitro was 90% about how rough the last couple years had been… only to end by setting up that Goldberg match at Starrcade.

This video is just a reminder of how bright Brian Pillman's future was looking at the time. His loose cannon gimmick was so good, it just didn't quite fit the era yet. I have no doubt he would have been one of the top guys of the Attitude era.

Gimmick was great but Pillman was a shell of his former self. Unfortunately he was ravaged by injuries. He was never the same after his accident. I don’t think he would’ve been able to work much during the attitude era as he was very limited here. Maybe as a manager or something?

I was at that event. The crowd was BANANAS. Words can not describe. Most wrestlers go their entire careers hoping they get as a big a pop as even frigging Jim Neidhart got that night, let alone the crowd's response to Bret Hart. Goosebumps every time I watch that match.
@alanguages
@alanguages 3 жыл бұрын
I was there at that event also. Bret and the Hart Foundation were faces worldwide, it was just the United States, he was considered a heel. That was why fans outside the USA saw how Vince and co. said, Bret was the one in the wrong it made no sense. Bret was telling the truth. After the In Your House event, in the parking lot, my brother and I, among others heard yelling. Someone yelled very loud "GET LOST YOU F'N C**T!" My brother used his binoculars and it was Hawk, there was about eight fans. They all wore Austin 3: 16 shirts. They had intentionally blocked the vehicle the Road Warriors were in, to prevent them from leaving the premises. It looked like Hawk was going to step out, but after that yell others went over there and the Austin fans left. People can be such jerks towards the performers.

The main event may have been the most fun Steve Austin has had in a PPV match. He so obviously relishes in getting to be the nasty heel (again). He was having the time of his life. Only thing I didn't like in the main event was the Owen Hart comeback, where he 'saves' Bret Hart. There are three team mates on the apron that just stand around.

Canadian here. Guaranteed we weren't booing Bret or the Foundation here. I sure wasn't. Harts are like royalty here.

I absolutely lovvvvvvvvved the themed PPVs from WWF. The company needs to bring back the In Your House PPVs-- to the main roster-- if mercurial Vince is serious about boosting the ratings.

As a proud Canadian citizen & Alberta resident, I can say we ARE bizarro land. We cheer for those we are proud for and those we respect, so even being highly booed is a compliment. Long time viewer, awesome video, keep it up!

Just shows how deep Wrestling runs in the blood of Calgary. We know the crowd reactions are part of the show and respond accordingly.

Bret's team was only considered heels by the American audience. All the wrestlers were border heels.

Look how badass Bret and the Harts looked in their leather coats and sunglasses. What a special time it was.
