WWF No Way Out of Texas (renamed "WWF No Way Out") took place in Houston, Texas on February 15th 1998. Serving as the final pay per view before WrestleMania XIV, No Way Out's scheduled main event featured an 8 man tag pitting D-Generation X & The New Age Outlaws vs Stone Cold Steve Austin, Cactus Jack, Chainsaw Charlie and Owen Hart.
On the WWF's Shotgun Saturday Night & Superstars television shows, it was revealed that Shawn Michaels sustained an injury while training and it was likely that Shawn wouldn't be competing at the pay per view. Fans would end up getting a replacement for HBK during the main event.
Other matches at the PPV include Kane vs Vader, The Nation of Domination vs Ken Shamrock, Ahmed Johnson and the D.O.A, and Jeff Jarrett defends his NWA North American Championship against Bradshaw.
00:00 - Intro
01:57 - Marc Mero & Goldust vs Head Bangers
04:48 - Pantera vs Taka Michinoku
07:31 - Quebecers vs Godwinns
10:10 - Jeff Jarrett vs Bradshaw
13:46 - The Nation vs Shamrock, Johnson & DOA

The behind the scenes of Shawn injuring his back, the drama with Bret, transitioning to Austin, Tyson, Shawn not willing to do the job, triple H's involvement, I'd like to think this is a super interesting story.

The Titan books by James Dixon may interest you; Titan Sinking and Titan Shattered were about the WWF in '95 and '96 but Titan Screwed covers '97 and the early part of '98 with it ending at Wrestlemania 14 (I recommend all the books, even if some bits are a little redundant, presumably for the benefit of people who only read the 1 book).

I have to say this… the backstage segment with HHH looking tired… Chyna is such a presence. I mean, she completely demands the camera. I was wondering how long they used the "in your house" thing. Took me awhile to realize how many great ppv matches I was missing.

Off the cuff theory why Savio Vega was chosen: Safest worker. HHH just got off the injury list, Austin has had neck issues, and HBK was probably 50/50 at the time on whether he could go at Wrestlemania. Mix in two hardcore legends that will work until they're hamburger and the Outlaws who probably didn't know how to do hardcore as safe as Mick and Terry. And then there was Owen who probably done as many hardcore matches in his career as he could count on one hand. The Rock still threw chair-shots like the one he done on Shamrock the week following: stiff. Wasn't worth throwing out a WM main event or putting some of the top draws out of action. Savio was the probably the safest choice amongst Austin, Mick, Terry, and Owen. That barb wire spot with Mick only proved that.

I’d guess it’s “non-sanctioned” to mean the match was “no disqualification”. It’s a stupid mixup, but it seems like they meant to say the match was not going to follow the WWF rulebook. That also explains why the WWF would have to appoint a 4th member.

I never saw this PPV but when Savio Vega came out as HBK replacement, I had to stop the video and removed myself from the room. 😭😭😭😭🤣🤣. This is exactly what Bischoff was referring to bout Austin. "Big fish in a small pond".. lol. They really didn't have anyone else to b honest, but boy did business picked up in the upcoming month after this.

They're my number 1 tag team of all time. I met Animal at a comic con. Nicest guy in the world. It really is a shame they're both gone.

@@WarlockX4 I got to meet both of them at a WCW show in the early 90 when I was a kid. I had my shoulder pad and face painted just like them. I have a picture of us three at moms. They where both nice guys.

'98/'99 is peak Kane for me, he was still cool when the 2000's came knocking but making him unmask completely killed what was left of the mystique for me

I dont know if you or anyone will see this but I just want to say the limited time I was able to get signal after Hurricane Ian I was able to keep up with the series. It was a nice distraction from everything and a bit normalcy during an unnormal time. Thanks for keeping up with uploads!!!

nice to see Perry Saturns future girlfriend. Moppy, getting in some action in the last match, was this their try out?

My first ever PPV that I attended !!!!! Amazing experience Looking back now we sure did get screwed on the main event !!! But those days wwe events were amazing regardless! Seeing prime Kane and Austin was epic!!!

Shawn Michael's barely finished his Wrestlemania match with Austin. He couldn't perform that night because his back was in serious pain.

This ppv would've meant more if they'd just booked the nwa angle with any level of effort. 3 factions they could have ripped through before a pay off loss to dx....annoying because all three of those factions just faded away :/ lazy lazy booking

This was the fist WWE event I saw live. When I heard that a mystery wrestler would fill in for Shawn, I was a little excited to find out who. Then Savio Vega showed up…

@@martynodonnell8467 Exactly! It would’ve been cool if this was when Sean Waltman returned
@martynodonnell8467
@martynodonnell8467 Жыл бұрын
@@erickghoul174 maybe, just maybe, there was talk about Waltman returning at this stage or maybe another name from WCW and it fell through. I mean it was almost guaranteed HBK couldn’t wrestle after the rumble until Mania. So it’s possible and that’s why we ended up with Savio as a last minute replacement 🤷‍♂️
