@ForeverYoungAaron Жыл бұрын
I’m so glad MiNT DIDNT use a larger format for this camera because it would have either looked stupid or just been the wrong shape for a TLR. The mini format allows it to stay pretty true to the originals. The large format folder design they used for the bigger cams was definitely the way to go. All that said, I want one of these things soooo badly and I’m hoping to find one soon

Got the highest end fuji mini (the neo 90) so I could have the most control over my photos and still I must say while it's super fun and lovely to shoot, it's just not close enough to manual to please an actually photographer who thrives off that creative control. Was really curious about this as the only other option for a manual is really expensive modded backs for expensive medium format cameras. This video genuinely sold me on this and I'm going to save up and eventually sell my current fuji mini so I can get this instead.
@InAnInstant3 жыл бұрын
If you want that control for Instax Mini this is prob your top option for sure! The lens is really the main draw, go swingin!

@jimmyzhan3686 Жыл бұрын
the way I got good Exposure everytime is I added a 4-stop ND filter that cover Both the lens and metering sensor ( mines is 67mm since i got lot of lenses with 67mm), I always leave my f-stop to 5.6 (even on very sunny day) to get the most blur background and no vignetting . This will force the camera to be - 4stop , f5.6, iso800, 1/500 shutter speed*the fastest the camera could be* which is the same as sunny 16 rule. Also, I dont uses focus screen to get focus but I use distance wheel and meter is range with my Digital camera.

I have wanted this camera but damn price has been an issue. And damn I didn’t know about not being able to shoot outside that’s lame!
@InAnInstant4 жыл бұрын
With the ND fix it's pretty unreal though. And something I sort of misspoke on was that you technically CAN use it outside out of the box, you just have to have it at f/22, and from where I stand that's sorta not the point of the camera. You want the thing to be able to play to its strengths outside and really flex the lens, which you can't do without an ND.

Thanks for this one Ben, I've kinda been coveting the TL70 for some time. It's a beautiful looking camera, I didn't realise it had so many flaws for practical shooting purposes though. When you are so used to Polaroid needing lots of light I think I'd waste a lot of film. I picked up a barely used black lomo'instant on eBay the other day, I'm halfway though a pack of mini. I can see it's appeal, I thought it would be nice for like, throw away photos, wee daft wallet type pics. Instax is just no comparison in quality to that of Polaroid in my humble opinion, yeah the colours are at times truer to life, but the latest sx-70/600 film (since the rebrand back to Polaroid) in an sx-70 is unbeatable
@InAnInstant4 жыл бұрын
The new Polaroid film is definitely astounding and in the SX-70/SLR-680 it's unreal. Instax is simply "different" and that's fine! Good to have two looks, the rest of the film industry has far more than that. Agreed though that Polaroid is the real real, the one to invest in.

I've got the TL70 and a Lomo Instant Square. It's kind of sad: The Lomo's build quality really isn't that great. That small thingy to adjust the focus distance broke, the plastic-thing of the film door broke, the lens-cover doesn't close completly and the remote control is falling out. Also, the viewfinder is not helpful at all, i never use it. Just for the record: I'm extremly careful with all of my cameras. The Instant Square was the first "new" camera i've bought and these flaws came together within just a few months. HOWEVER: Damn, it takes great pictures even in bright sunlight, it only tends to underexpose during rainy weather, where highlights are more pronounced and shadow-details get lost sometimes. And it still makes kind of fun. Back to the TL70: Good build quality and thanks to the TLR system, it is as close to a SX-70 experience as you can get, it makes so much fun to just even hold the camera. A self timer would've been neat, but i can live with that. Now, HOW is it possible, that Lomo was able to get a faster shutter speed and MINT can't? I've had extrem overexpose even with f22 and with the exposure compensation turned to minus. I wasn't in a desert, i stood in front of a highway and it really wasn't that bright. To me, it means that the TL70 is perfect for cloudy days and indoors. Especially when i visit conventions and want to handover small photographs to cosplayers, the TL70 will be perfect. Not taking the camera with me on sunny days is still a bummer and i really don't want to carry around a ND filter all the time. Like, seriously, the guys at MINT are experts and they did SO MUCH well, how could they not optimize the shutter speed enough? Lomo did it way better despite doing many aspects worse than MINT.
@InAnInstant4 жыл бұрын
Totally agree with everything here. Re: the Lomo Square, that viewfinder makes it next to impossible 😂 - when you nail it though, the pictures are unreal! Unfortunately that can be a rare experience. Re: the TL70, agree it would have been nice to have a timer, the shutter speed problem is the tagger though. I think it’s due to the TLR design, but yeah the experience is really the closest you can get to an SX-70 when it’s all functioning right.

@bildkistl3 жыл бұрын
you could probably sync it with the built-in flash get some infrared sheet to cover the inbuilt-flash so it can trigger you're main flash in slave mode without ruin the scene with the light from the built-in flash. I did similar set-ups with other cameras in the past and it does work very well!
@K1n1c4 жыл бұрын
Could you use a polaroid nd filter sheet cut up and shoved into the film pack?
@InAnInstant4 жыл бұрын
This is a really interesting idea! I've never tried it, but I imagine the main difficulty would be preventing the film pick from pulling the ND right out of the camera 😂 - but with enough testing I assume you could get it to stay right on top of the pack like Polaroid's do. Unsure!
