note: spoilers for S1, S2, S3, and S4. You have been warned.
Happy 2021.
This will most likely be my last video for some time, as I start my new job tomorrow. But I wanted to leave you all with another video, this time on Inarizaki's North Star, Kita Shinsuke.
I hope you enjoy it, as I really enjoyed making this particular video essay and character analysis.
Big thank you to James Liam Figueroa for letting me use his cover of "Shinsuke's Ritual." You can check out his channel here:
/ @jamesliamfigueroa
OSTs used (in order):
S1 #19 - Goal
S2 (vol. 2) #6 - Central Pillar
S2 (vol. 2) #12 - Regret and Motivation
S4 - Shinsuke’s Ritual (cover by James Liam Figueroa)
S1 #21 - Combination Birth
Tsunagu (Main Theme Rearrange) by Yuki Hayashi
"When an adult says, " The process matters more than the results", kids aren't really gonna understand. But I totally agree with the adults. I'm basically built from my daily routine, and results are nothing more than the byproduct."

Kita is my favorite captain after Daichi. Most people don’t understand, brush him off as a minor character. But to me, and to others , he’s special, and you’ve explained really well how he is. It’s interesting that he is kind of the opposite of inarzaki’s banner/motto, We don’t need memories. Like you’ve said, kita shows that results don’t matter, but the process does. And with that process comes experiences and memories. My favorite line in this video..... is -someone IS always watching. And that someone is YOU. I’ve never thought of it like that. It’s a common phrase, that I’ve always scoffed at. But the word, you, completely changes my attitude towards it now. I hope that with 2021, we can all learn to reflect and continue to grow to achieve those results, like kita did.

How do you like Daichi more? In my opninion all the Karasuno Seniors are super basic and boring Daichi, Sugawara and Asahi. Kita easily one of the best characters in Haikyuu!

Ever since watching this video and contemplating on Kita's philosophy, I've tried to replicate him by trying to be disciplined and focus on the process. I used to sleep at 4 am and wake up 10 minutes just before the class. Now, I sleep by 12 and wake up by 7 and I've finally done a bunch of other things in college, fitness and academics that I always put off before. It's astounding how much a fictional character has influenced me. Always feel weird to say that an anime character has truly changed me from completely but there you go. Thank you for this video, you have changed me !

It took me too many rewatches to realize that the person who was always watching Kita from the beginning was the coach from Inarizaki, the same coach who seems to be the only person who truly understands Kita. The fact that I learned how to deal with failure from a high school volleyball player in an anime and not from anyone in person is sad. But man, Kita is just *chef's kiss* I genuinely learned so many things from the entire show that I know I will hold on to forever, but the majority comes from Kita. He is such a beautifully crafted character. I literally have "The process is more important than the results" hung on the wall above my desk so my eyes would land on it every time I feel like giving up. Kita has been a motivation for me since I've watched the match, and truly grasped everything (or most) there is to learn.

Shinsuke is undoubtedly my favorite character in the entire series due to his wisdom, despite his not having many appearances. There is an impactful depth from his aura alone, which Furudate did well when writing him down. There is something beautiful with how he says things like there is an art to everything wherein the stroke of a brush turns into an artwork; it is fundamental and pretty essential, but the byproduct of a simple process turns into something that leaves you in awe. Someone is always watching us, and it pretty much guides us in the process. A process wherein it serves as the turning point towards our character development as people. Not just in what we do but for us our very own spiritual and physical being. Time and hard work matter in what we do each day, and sometimes it amazes me that we ignore ordinary day stuff so easily despite them leading to a fruitful destination. Shinsuke's character was an eye-opener to me and others about how we do things and how they lead up to things. He was an eye-opener to how we live everyday life. He was an eye-opener to what we call a "process."

As for creator of this video...i felt the same regarding kita and as soon as I watched an episode of kita I was tempted to go on KZbin and search about this character more to learn more about him.. I was curious.... and I found this video. Which is .. the creator completely reflected what I thought about kita and I'm glad I watched this video thanks to the creator ♥️🤝🏻 Kita definitely has the deepest thoughtful background story in most haikyu characters. Even though he has a shorter time in series, he might be the most precious moment of the series too.

Okay that's probably the best video I've seen in a long time- LIKE, Kita is my favourite character of all, he taught me things that are changing my life and I'm really really grateful to Furudate for creating a story with interesting, deep and reletable characters, I'm perfectly sure that I'll never stop loving haikyuu for everything that it's given me. Kita's speech on geniuses really touched me because I have always had talented people around me that sometimes made me almost feel inferior. But I understood that like everyone they practise and put effort in what they do every single day and I believe that it's really rude, like Kita said, to think that they've always been like that and that they're just "lucky" or "gifted". They're themselves and if they're great at something it means that they excercised constantly everyday. You explained very well the character and it gave me goosebumps when you said "someone is always watching and that someone is you" New subscriber, love your videos and wish you the best

I really love your channel! I came upon it recently, and it's really given me a deeper look into some of my favorite characters, and I realized that I could learn a lot from them, and into a particular show, as a whole. It's motivated me a lot, especially now that I'm in my junior year of high school and the stress is piling on, and I'm started to lose interest and steam in things that I like/am interested in. It's cool to see how something that seemingly so mundane can be viewed in one way or another, and how different people have different perspectives on life. Good luck with your job! I look forward to the videos you'll produce in the future.
