I’m learning this piece and have been having a hard time getting the character right. Your video is super helpful and has wonderful suggestions about shifting and color. Your suggestion to play the scale at the end of the Poco piu mosso on the G string is brilliant. Thanks so much!

Do you recommend any specific etudes or exercises to play in this style better? I would also like to discover more pieces that sound similar to this one. Thank you!

Caro L hi, the best way to learn and understand the style of Jewish inspired works is to listen to Jewish music and to play them. Other pieces include Kol Nidrei by Max Bruch, the other two pieces in Jewish Life are great. I have a whole CD of works in this style, ranging from Williams’ Schindler’s List to Stutchewski, who was a Polish/Israeli cellist composer. www.amazon.com/Nigun-Celebration-Inbal-Segev-cello/dp/B0001XAORA

Why does everyone play the triplets as a quaver - two semiquaver rhythm?
@cellosong5 ай бұрын
These lines are meant to sound improvised and spontaneous so they should have certain irregularities to them. We should not play the rhythms metronomically as a result.
