We take the incablock system for granted, everyone knocks there watches ( accidentally) but in Breguet's time a shock protection for the ballance was a new invention, I was amused to read in my copy of Breguet art and innovation that he demonstrated his shock protection by throwing his watch on the hard floor and everyone was amazed that the watch still worked, that must have been quite the spectacle at the time for sure.

Watch movements are Fascinating and I love how you still get excited about the finer points that a lot of people overlook. To realise that people like Breguet were SO advanced at the time really puts things into perspective and is something that we shouldn't take for granted. Breguet, G. Daniels, K. Slaap... All Amazing!!! 😆

Wow! What fantastic info! Purely through trial and error I discovered that the orientation of my 7s26 overnight would affect its accuracy. laying on its face or back would slow it down while laying it on its side would speed it up. Now I understand why! Awesome!!!

Thank you for this. I am suffering through the realization that the broken incabloc spring on a zodiac seawolf I am restoring is going to be quite a nuisance.

Kalle here is an important question, I believe. At 2:13 you say: "Here you can see just a tiny dot if I play with the light just a bit and that is the bit where the pivot is resting against the jewel". Is that dot on the flat side of the cap jewel just for your model or should the dot also be present and visible in a real cap jewel? I was told that if the flat side of the cap jewel has a dot (cavity) in its centre the cap jewel must be replaced. Is that statement correct? Hope you have a minute to reply. Thank you!
@ChronoglideWatchmaking Жыл бұрын
It was just in the model, it should be perfectly flat. You are absolutely right.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge ! Knowledge and experience have much more value when shared :) Question about the spring. Is it sided ? or is 100% flat ? I mean, if I remove it and put it back, do I have to be careful about which side is in contact with the jewel ? On my seiko 7S26, not a such "door" system. I guess I have to turn 90° the spring and it will fly out. I'll manage :)
@kermitaner2 жыл бұрын
I think its flat, doesn't matter, which side is in contact with the jewel. but its a very fiddly job :- ) putting it back in place nearly took me one afternoon on my first reassembled watch ...

Very interesting!!! I own several wrist watches from the 1920s to 1940s without any shock system. Are they as vulnerable fot shocks as pocket watches?

Yes the are, just be careful and there will be no problem. Enjoy your beautiful watches!

How do you replace a broken incabloc shock on the main plate? Thank-you
@brunotulliani Жыл бұрын
I did some reading and you need a jewelling tool to push out the chaton support. I believe the spring is "sandwiched" between the mainplate and the chaton support. Not sure if this is correct.
@rhendricksonn3 жыл бұрын
Your chaton came out so easily. What's the trick?
@ChronoglideWatchmaking3 жыл бұрын
Not too much pressure, easy does it Richard.
@manusudha42696 ай бұрын
Incabloc two point pressure on the cap jewel is not good . There should be at least 3 point pressure of spring on the cap jewel . I would like to add: Seiko's Diashock is the best . Hence many manufacturers copied Diashock .

Tip #327 lol. I am an Electrical Engineer but also worked well outside my area for a lifetime. Interference fit with no interference can be achieved with dry ice and hot oil. The inside component in dry ice with the outside component in a toaster oven or hot oil in a teapot.

I have a broken lyre spring for my omega cal.712. I am unable to easily slide the spring in. You say I need to remove the chaton holder to then install the spring. Are the any resources I may be directed towards to help me with this? Thanks :)
