My family was stationed there and I had fond memories as a kid in my preteens. I was there between 1990-94. Arrived after the mass evacuation of non vital staff. I frequented the rec center, gym, pool, the church, the BX, the village, the library, tent city, practically every part of that base was my stomping ground. We lived behind the rec center across the street from the church. I once had a Turkish contractor pull a gun out on me for squirting him with a super soaker on my bike while he was driving. I completely deserved lol. We had a Turkish maid named Fatima and she was sweet. Her son was injured fighting the Kurds not to far from base. I remember not being able to ever drink the tap water and even having to shower with bottle water at one point. I also remember eating small sweet apricots from the trees that grew all around the base. Great times!

That's almost the exact month my wife, child and I left out of there on our way back to Texas, as I was seperating from the USAF, although we could have lived there forever. This has brought back so many memories of the food, the food and shops there on the alley and so much more. Our son Eric was born at the base hospital, and will turn 30 next September, but memories of Incirlik, Adana, Alanya and more are so fresh. The Turks laughed, because "Eric," means "plum" in Turkish. We would love to go back and visit Greece, Crete and perhaps Italy while in the region.

Thanks for posting the video. The LICK was our support base where we went for things like, hot showers, the pizza shop and the Class 6 store. We thought we were in heaven the few times we drove our MWR Bus down to see you guys. ERHAC AB 79 to 80.

I was there from April 1993 to August 1994, where did you work? I was in Finance, and lived in the village. Awful place. I guess if you lived on base (I assume you did if you were there two years - accompanied?) it was a great place to be stationed but nobody I knew who lived off base in the village liked it. LOL :D Good times, though. :)))

I wish, but she was not keen on leaving the base since we had the hepatitus B scare going on in the tap water (to this day I am asked to not give blood).

I remember that! They hyper chlorinated the water pipes, and we couldn't even shower in it. They issued each of us big cases of water in the dorms to drink and bathe in.
