Just something to keep in mind: many of the vendors who paid did so because all the payments from orders that autofinalized after the initial wallet draining were not taken, so they basically paid the ransom with money that was stuck on the site and already lost anyways. So from the vendors' perspectives it was completely free.

Two, most of these guys who get caught do dumb stuff like host and use stuff in thier real identity. The admin of alphabay did that and that's how the fbi got him. No career criminal with experience would do such a thing.
