Haha!! That does sound dangerous indeed, I don't think I'd recommend that. Although being under it (even without the water) felt dangerous too, I know it isn't... but the ship was about 20 stories high, just balanced!!! SO scary :')

I absolutely agree! I write about traveling in COLOMBIA and living in Bogota and running a travel agency, I know my stuff. Doing some online research, there is not only superficial information but stuff that is just wrong and it got copied and copied over again from travel bloggers that just wanted to publish some content about the country. I am sure, mid term I will outrank all of them and it will be impossible for them to compete with my content. But so far, ranking takes time and the other ranking factors still beat me. good input, thx Rick Cheers from Bogota

You are my favorite SEO because you teach people not just specific things but you teach how to think for yourself and its much more far reaching and valuable. The way that you work is bullet proof because it creates true value that can only increase in time instead of turning bad when Googles algorithm becomes more nuanced, which it continuously does. Kudos and thank you.

Do Original research instead of just replicating what's already out there. 1. Consolidating information available on the web but analysing it. - if it can be found in 10mins on Google it's not original research or if a blogger can do a post about it in an hour it's not original research. 2. Run an experiment Example with a product review testing how hot the product gets with usage. 3D printer tested power consumption then compared it to other appliances even adding how much the power costs. 3. Product review (comparison) Example, RBG light comparison, how long the battery last, testing the color and light etc. 4. Interviews If the person being interviewed and the content is interesting to people that's ok. Or focus on a specific topic then use quotes to make your points in a blog post. Example 4 vets interviewed about dogs claws. Aggregate data from a quiz or poll, run poll in Facebook group, find trends and data. Create graphs and tables etc. Example micro green grow lights - most people use 40 watts etc 5. Expert knowledge Example top 10 attraction parks and what ages each is catered to written by someone who had been to all the different parks. Thanks so much for these tips

It's a tough trade off between doing all the original research and leg work, and getting out articles at scale. Finding the balance between the extremes of one really good article a month, or 100 a month that are mediocre. I've been researching the topics, having the articles written, filter through an editor.. and then adding something unique to it. Data, a table, a graph. It's tough though when you're trying to produce 30 articles a month.
@willpeachable3 жыл бұрын
100% agree. Imagine the wasted ROI pouring hours into one of those posts only for 10 other shorter, more targeted pieces to swamp it in traffic. This approach is only really viable when you're already generating income and have the data (from the mass volume approach) to know, more precisely, what's likely to be a hit.
@dankay79823 жыл бұрын
My experience is that google values quality much higher than quantity. I know what the income school teaches but I agree only somewhat when it comes to the frequency of publishing. One major original piece, well researched and unique is worth five mediocre articles - in my humble opinion of course.

I agree completely with everything you say here, but I would say one other thing. In previous videos, you guys implied setting an hour aside for writing a blog post. I'm not saying something can't be written in an hour, but realistically I think it takes 2-5 hours to write a quality blog post that will actually get somewhere on google. I aim to create one piece of good content per day. For example, today I wrote a piece for my UK property based website, I started at 07.30 and it was 2.30pm when I actually finished. I have a working system where I never publish on the same day, I publish the next day, so tomorrow morning I will pop in & give it a fresh look before publication. This allows for any last minute changes and additions.

I think about original research many times in this women fashion blog, but do not get ideas on what type of topics can be there in a fashion related blog. Yes, I found the costs of different type of places and prices, sometimes different latest styles around in other pinterest/instagram, but beyond that what?
@DoneHQ3 жыл бұрын
Ramanna, I don't know your exact niche, but maybe you could do things like skirt vs pants in an interview (which got better results--there are studies on these things) or best bra straps that don't fall off your shoulders (do your own research if it's not available), etc. I bet there are a lot of questions people have.
@JosephQuinn19813 жыл бұрын
So the idea about creating a database is one I've had for the last two weeks so I'm glad you mentioned it. So my idea is to create a database about a very specific software and create filters that would help them choose the best option for their situation. I would be creating a custom post type specifically for this and a custom taxonomy called "features", then create a filter for this features taxonomy which would allow them to filter thier options by specific features they are looking for. This is something that would be developed and added to over time. The difficulty is deciding which features I should be adding. I mean I have some ideas but I was thinking of visiting a FB group and asking which features people look for in this software and adding the most sought after features. There are many websites that provide a list of this software but none that allow you to filter them by features. What are your thoughts on this idea?

I agree. It’s not out of date at all. Original research helps you create unbeatable content. But you should write easier content as well. It’s not one or the other.
