My buddy blew all his amps being wired to 0.7 ohms on a 15.6 volt system , certain amps don’t like high voltage and low impendance and they’re finicky. I’m old school I just stick to 1 ohm, I love box rise too. All the enclosures I’ve had that had massive box rise were 1-3db louder than the ones that had the least amount of box rise, and the subs never stunk. More rise = less current going to coil = cooler subwoofer

Redoing your ground to a single point, reduces potential variances in the ground, which can help to prevent a "ground loop" which will cause feedback and interference in the electrical system. It's not really a super critical upgrade to do however, unless you experience any unwanted noise/feedback or just want to be extra sure.

So your saying run all grounds to the same place
@soldjahboy
@soldjahboy 10 ай бұрын
@@SlamryCamry19 Ideally yes. Not critical but it will eliminate ground loop potential. In many cases it will not be an issue but if you want 100% clean (no interference at all) then always ground to same position for all contacts. Usually go to the primary battery and from there, strengthen the factory ground to the chassis by adding 1/0 AWG ground cable if you want extra assurance.

And on the grounding part, I’m an electrician but I’m gonna try to explain as simple as possible. There’s a reason data centers with big DC backup batteries and 8/0 wire are all grounded to 1 bussbar. When you have multiple grounding points shit starts getting weird, don’t know why. It’s best to have the same potential on the grounds. That engine block ground isn’t good enough in my opinion, and the wire size needs to be matched to the power wire ideally

That makes sense. I appreciate the explanation.

You need two alternators to separate one for your truck, and the other one for the system, your will have big problems, all kinds of lights is going to come on charging that high. The amps will only allow about 16 to 16.2

Hey I just yesterday installed a new SCIB bank in my 19 Camry with a High output alternator from autotech I installed the alternator about a month ago with the voltage control module and everything worked great until yesterday when the voltage went over 15v it started beeping and saying charging system malfunction which I know is the modern version of a battery light and I was told it could possibly say that with the initial install of the alternator but it didn't it actually worked like normal what I'm wondering is if it's ok to drive it like that daily this car is my daily driver/build car will it mess anything up charging that high I already paid 1000$ for the SCIB bank and really want to use it in the build

@@SlamryCamry19 it depends on the car man. My truck will actually run 16v all day long without a problem. My car on the other hand doesn’t like anything other than about 15.1. The problem with the voltage step down modules is they only handle about 25amps. So if you want to step down your whole car you need like 3-4 of them running parallel. I installed one in my truck (as in the video), and it burned up almost immediately. So I just said fuck it, and ran the whole truck at 16V and it does fine.

You give your alt its own independent ground so it doesn't have to travel thru the block, instead giving it a path of least resistance......
@Husky_Shane_BassHead
@Husky_Shane_BassHead Жыл бұрын
My understanding would be that the block is a grounding point. The path of least resistance is to the block. It’s made of metal and is connected to the frame. Maybe I’m wrong, it just seems like it’s the most grounded part of the whole system.
