Michael, Learning to shoot well on your own may well be one of the hardest solo practices that you can attempt. I’ve always tried to create little ‘scenarios’ for players to try on their own. Things like “Always try to land on your striking foot after the shot” or “Combinations of touches before the shot etc” In matches I’ve also given players certain things to think about when shooting. 1) First Half, aim for the left hand side of the goal, Second Half, aim for the right side of the goal. 2) If possible, when the ball goes wide, try NOT to be ahead of the ball, keep moving but time your run to meet the cross etc. Solo training can be hard especially when you can’t receive a pass like you would in a match. For Technique, I’ve always liked the idea of 1v1 challenges etc. One idea is to pair players up - each passes to the other alternately while the receiver takes a maximum of 3 touches then shoot. The difference is, is that each player has to aim for the other’s training top which is tied to one corner crossbar and post angle. If the player shoots into the goal without hitting their partners training top, then they get one point. If they hit the training top and it goes into the goal = 4 points. The first to get to 12 pts wins. Just by adding the fact that their tops end up getting so much dirt on it that everyone knows who was the more accurate, the challenge becomes full of ‘match kind ‘ of pressure. Michael, I have a question for you… Would it be possible to create a facility where subscribers could share videos that they have created that showcase their personal attempts at the skills they’ve seen in your videos. You could even guide them by what they do right or not so good I feel it could attract even more subscribers. Just a thought Kevin

I really like the football theory, Michael is teaching great lessons on the why’s. The intro on, not only power, but also finishing is a great example. I hate to break it to you, Michael. I have been through so much efforts to get into trials, camps and teams for past half a decade and looking at my current work rate, it asks for more and I'm not even able to come up with 1% of the work I used to put in. All I do is watch Pro matches. Nothing else. Not able to train properly, till nothing worked ideally. TBH. And here I'm 21 years old, believed to be pro footballer in few years time playing at local level at least. But my dreams have been shattered. The age gap for a foundation is closed for me. Even if I know about football. I just can only play recreational. I wanted to go pro, did things all I could do in these years failed a trial and it's too late for another. They won't take lany chance with people like me anymore. I guess I have failed you, mate. I have always watched your videos trying to improve footwork, technical sessions, 1-2s. It's not just you. Even the likes of Matt Sheldon, Eric Friedlander and many more. No one is supporting even my own mom. And they want me to push to get q job and settle down and quit playing. But fact is that I never ignored football when it came to me. I got injured many times but I kept going believing I would crack it out somehow before 20 but no. I'm sorry, mate. I have failed you, Sir. You have been such a wonderful part of my life virtually. I wanted to meet you in real time in future to say thanks after I have become pro footballer. But at this point, it's only football that can give me a second chance. I don't think I'm worth it. I gave it only so much. I can't believe I have been reduced to such level. Millions of apology.
@7mlc9 ай бұрын
Sounds like you are putting the responsibility in other places than yourself mate. The only person you can “fail” is yourself. The only person that needs to “support” you, is yourself. The only person that gives you a “second chance” at pursuing your dream, is yourself. Get back on the horse mate 👍

@@7mlcif you know about the country I live in, it's India. And youth foundation leagues came up when I was past 19. So, my chance went up for a toss. The fact that I have no more deserving at all. Like I have failed football as well. Including my generation of players, we lost Six Generations of Players. We really don't have a defined plan at all. I thought if entering into college and get possible University call but my final year is over. Here in India, what I learned is the meritocratic system. It doesn't allow one to follow dream. Here, responsibility>dream. I'm still acting a fool so that I can get to know everything better. Now I don't even have a space to train properly. All I can work is on footwork and 1v1s. No shooting, crossing and it's not an individual sport where it just depends on one. We have to help the team, play for them. I'm more of a silent person who has quite an aversive nature sometimes but I know to control but mostly remain silent. Football is not played like that. And my physicality for football is dropping gradually. I'm not a flair player either. I avoid physical battles and 1v1s. Get into a shooting position, link up plays. The last I played football was 6 months ago. On the playground not any league. Mom's support has been the reason why I am still here. If she does not support, it's okay but losing the only support and hearing all critics. My father used to be a GK. But when I say about football he is contemptuous. None can live in such a society. I beg your pardon, mate. It's not excuse. It's a fact. Even if I put in the work, it will go vain. And football is not something that I let go in vain.

@@7mlcbefore I came to football, I played cricket. I always wanted to represent my country through sports. Cricket was my love back then. Now both of them doesn't make any difference going pro. No one wants a player who is not young like 21 or 23. And I can't go to other countries cuz of visa rejection to play football. If I ever deserve a second shot at any of the two, I believe it will provide. I'm ready for it anytime. But sooner the better. That second shot will be more than I will owe to my redemption.
