I’m 6’4 260. 46 years old. Played Junior way back in the day when butterfly was not played by most goalies. Now it’s pretty much the only style. I’m trying to conform however it’s difficult. Any advice for an old has been beer leaguer. It’s difficult. Lol

Stick with what works for you. You don't have to go full butterfly, hybrid works for me and I'm 69. Just don't ever give up

Use the best of both worlds and its muscle memory. Practice good mechanics. Just got back on the ice this year after 5 yr layoff and slowly working my way back. And, if there’s a goalie camp near you, go for it, it’s fun, get ton of shots, and coaching,

Something I've been doing the last couple of years, maybe you can give me an opinion of it. Basically, I'm playing with my stick reversed. It seemed to me that with my stick on the ice in the usual way, the curve goes back towards me (where G is the goalie - G( like this). I noticed that with the stick curved this way, putting the toe down raises the heel, and vice versa. The stick is never flush to the ice. So, I reversed it - G) ... like this. Now with the stick on the ice, the edge is flush to the ice. More, shots will naturally deflect OUT to the boards/corners, where with the stick the other way, they deflect more to the middle. Granted, it's reduced my ability to play the puck somewhat, but I was never all that good at that anyway. What do you think, am I onto something here, or is there a flaw in this idea I haven't seen yet?
