Today from the good people at Retro Classic Car, we have this amazing 1957 Chevrolet 210 Coupe. The subject of an extensive restoration, it now looks absolutely stunning and would impress any car fan. Oh, and it's loud. VERY loud.

You can’t compare a 50’s American car to anything other than another 50s American car. Nobody is cross shopping a 57’ coupe with a E31 840i, or an 81’ vette. Love the videos 🍺

When I was 11 a new family moved into our neighborhood. Their house smelled of cabbage and the parents had some numbers tattooed on the inside of their forearms. They spoke with a strong accent. They had a son my age who became a lifelong friend, and when he turned 16 in 1962 his dad presented him with a beautiful light green and white 1957 Chevy Bel-Air with the iconic 283 engine and 3 speed on the column, the same body as the car you are showing. I had thought his parents were poor and mine rich but mine never gave me diddly. Later I found out that his parents were frugal while mine spent all their money on fancy clothes, beer and parties. I spent my high school days in Dallas riding shotgun in that car and seeing your video brings that back. I don’t think he ever got it to 80 mph, and never felt the need. Mike was the cool kid with that car. He was olive skinned with straight black hair and I was his goofy curly sidekick. I felt the glow, but somehow the girls always went for him instead. Probably the Chevy.

My dad had a 56 pillarless coupe, we did a lot of trips in that car. Amazing memories. An iconic piece of design. 38 grand sounds like an absolute BARGAIN. American cars from this era were pure art.

For many a year the 57 Chevy was THE car to have for hotrodding. Even back in the day there was a Chevy dealer who had a number of 210 2-door sedans special ordered; with fuel injected 283's,with 283 HP and other goodies like truck brakes and a very special Duntov camshaft that would be helpful for racing. These trick 210's were so much faster than anything else in NASCAR ( even the big Chrysler Hemi's ) that they were banned.

Various sources put the weight at 3350-3500 lbs. It should be quick enough with 300 hp to need the modern tires, etc. I'd want seat belts. The headliner is fantastic.

What a fabulous car, if this has not sold after this outing I will be very surprised. I love these early classics this one is such a fantastic beast and sounds super and obviously had a mint spent on it and coming from California is probably a great buy. If I was in the market for an American classic, this would have done very nicely. Thanks for a wonderful look at a great car!

I saw a rear 3/4 aspect picture of the Chezoom when I was in my early teens in a surreptitiously acquired Playboy magazine (as one does...) and if I didn't pay attention to regular 57 Chevies before then, I certainly appreciated them after that. Any chance of a Lincoln Continental or a Cadillac Eldorado review to look forward to?

A rare UK review of an American classic. What is the difference between this car and a Bel Air?
@philbarrows2431
@philbarrows2431 3 жыл бұрын
henryhol8538 All three models (150, 210 & BelAir) shared body styles, though the 150 did not offer a hardtop. The primary difference is trim level. The 150 had side trim much like the '55 Chevy with a single horizontal divider. the stock 210 would not have the insert between the two rear stripes (though this one does) and only the Belair would have gold colored emblems on the hood -this car originally came with chrome emblems. Finally the length to the chrome piece atop the fins on the 150 & 210 are short as we see on this car. the Belair had longer chrome pieces that nearly reached the rear window. Because of price difference, generally the belairs were ordered with more options. Sorry if I'm giving far more detail than you asked for. i.imgur.com/Gw6fUaH.jpg

@@philbarrows2431 That is exactly what I needed, I visit and film many classic car shows in the UK but very rarely come across these 50's Americana. I do hope buyers in the states don't end up restomoding all the examples left.
@richardharrold9736
@richardharrold9736 3 жыл бұрын
@@henryhol8538 the originals were utterly dreadful, looked cool and were reasonably quick in a straight line if they had the V8, but most had an asthmatic straight six, the transmission was usually a two-speed Powerglide automatic - great for drag racing, hopeless on the road - and let's not even talk about handling or brakes, because GM certainly never did...
