That’s how it should be. I hate those new mustangs that people put the loud flowmasters on, or cuts offs, or something… …and they are so freaking loud at 20mph. Why do you have to wake up the entire neighborhood at 20 mph? You’re going like 1000-2000 RPMs, there’s no need for that. And because it’s a modern dual overhead cam, it sounds like utter crap. Like, I get that it’s fast, but the original, much slower, push rod 302 sounded so much better.

I love the looks but unless I relocate to the US (unlikely, too risky w crime/illness) I cannot get one with a proper V8, so a classic swapped to a Tesla powertrain will have to do for me. I loved it, but had to admit, that the large fins on the 57 Lincoln was not a great look. It turned out, that the 57 Lincolns were the lowest-selling Lincolns of the 1950s. The 1957 Cadillacs outsold it around 3 to 1.

I would concur. In 1966 I bought a '57 Chevy Bel Air convertible from a widow for $350.00. The car had only 51K miles on it and was in excellent shape in and out. It was her late husband's car, and always garage kept, but it was a 3 speed on the column and she did not know how to drive a stick shift. She just wanted to get the car out of the garage to make room for her new Pontiac Tempest. The car was Tropical Turquoise with a Black canvas top and a turquoise and white interior. It had the 283 Power Pack and the famous Wonder Bar signal-seek radio. I had a lot of fun cruising on warm sunny days with the top down, my girlfriend sitting next to me and the Beach Boys, Beatles and Chuck Berry playing on that radio. I'd give anything to be able to have a beautiful ragtop like that again...what a great memory from my long-lost youth. :-)

Its seats folded down into a bed. My best buddy had a 1960 Corvette, 270 BHP, dual quads. Power top. We would swap cars when he had a hot date. I got to burn his tires off + a tank of gas. But I definitely understand that it could be nice to have one that looks original on the outside like this, but upgraded otherwise. I like learning about Jay's Porsches, Duesenbergs, steam cars, etc., but I think my favorites are still from the '50s and '60s. Today's cars are of course way better in so many ways, but they mostly look like amoebas--blobs with none of the style of the older cars. My dad was born in 43, so the 57 chevy ended up being special to my dad just cause it was around when he was a teen. I learned from him at a very young age that a 57 Chevy is a very special car.

One of my absolute dream cars, would be a robin egg blue 1957 Chevy Bel-Air, modernized, have a/c and Bluetooth, and have it automatic, since I never learned how to drive manual. My God, that rev sound when Jay puts the pedal to the metal! Love it!

In 1969, my senior year in high school I had an immaculate 31,000 mile Sierra Gold Bel Air two door hard top. When I see these now, I just yearn for those days. During a gas war that summer, Sunoco 260 was going for 19 cents a gallon.

That's the 50's icon car we know best outside of the States, and what a beautiful job that is. Completely retained the original look of the car. Wow

This car shines like the jewel it is. You fix/ restore a '57 Chevy, and you've got a beautiful car that has low power, doesn't handle well, and barely stops. This is the epitome of a Restomod. You've got a true Street Rod... Has to be a Show winner...

Stunning. I'm with jay, nothing worse than seeing a 57 Chevy or any other beautiful car chopped up and huge engines stickingbout of the hood. This is spot on and definitely how I would build one. Red or jet black white. Perfect colors for the 57. My wedding act was a black and white 57 belair and I swear I'm going to buy one soon. Just don't tell the wife 🤣

My Dad bought a ‘57 Bel Air in about ‘61. It looked very nice but the rear window leaked and after multiple places and attempts to fix it, Dad had to trade it in as the mold and mildew made my Mom sick if she rode in it for a while. I remember it as a 4 door hard top. Dad traded for a ‘59 Ford Country Squire which he had until March of ‘68 when he bought a new ‘68 Ford Country Squire. Too bad about the leaky Chevy as Fad never owned another GM car for the rest of his life. Oh, the Chevy had been acquired to replace a Beautiful’56 DeSoto which had constant transmission problems. Dad remained pretty loyal to Ford Motor Company thereafter with 2 Dodges and one Chrysler to fill out the mix. His last car he bought was a nice ‘90 Mercury Sable. His was Navy Blue and Mom had a white ‘90 Sable which I ended up with. So there is an abbreviated list of cars from my Parents, starting in the middle really.
