What do they mean by 'hold of throw' or 'break of throw'? Does it actually mean anything to the gameplay/points?

Hold of throw is when you throw first in the leg and win it. Break of throw is when you throw second in the leg and win it. Throwing first in the leg is a huge advantage.

The player that starts the leg 'has the throw' so if you win the leg while starting it is a 'hold of throw'. If you throw second in a leg, and win the leg it is a break of throw.

Just refers to who throws the first darts in a leg. If you throw first you are favourite so it's a hold of throw if you win when you throw first, and a break of throw if you win the leg throwing second. Just like the serve in tennis.

Pondering some hypothetical:- At 33, do you think The Dobes has reached his peak???? I'd like to believe he can go on to become a G.O.A.T. like MVG and Littler's future greatness. Would Power Taylor have won so much/many if his time was now instead of 20 years ago??? And how about The Asp??? Is that hesitation we see the start of some form of "dartitis"?? His darts are guided missiles..... when he's on, BUT his stop/start/readjust is becoming more frequent. I watched The Crafty Cockney do this when it first started with him. Who knows????????

As regards Phil Taylor: yes, I think he would very probably still be as dominant today as he was a couple of decades ago. He was averaging around and even over 110 regularly throughout entire matches, even the longer ones, AND whole tournaments, and his combination finishing and doubling were metronomically regular. Taylor was a one-off, like Don Bradman. The greatest there ever will be.
