I was excited to try these brownies because it had a caramel filling instead of the typical peanut butter filling which my daughter is allergic. I decided to make this tonight and it was sooooo rich and delicious! I was a bit inpatient letting it cool completely though so it cracked a bit, but it was so worth it. I made these. Turned out so good! Very rich in taste, not too sweet. I used 1/2 cup coconut oil and 1/2 cup butter. And 3/4 cup condensed milk instead of the whole can and 6oz of caramel instead of 10oz lol...it was really good. I can't stand super sweet stuff anymore. The brownie recipe is a keeper for sure. Very decedent!

I made a Betty Crocker recipe very similar to John's and used the Werther's candies too. Delicious, but I would 100% try dulce de leche next time. I think it would be easier to work with and spread.

I think I used too much caramel (the same as the toffee recipe) as my daughter complained they were crunchy but the flavor was spot on. I will try it again. I did make a 2nd badge without the caramel and those were great.
