If I remember correctly this was an incredibly hard number for Sally Ann Howes who was not a dancer, she was a singer. This is a fantastic performance. It’s incredibly sad that Sally Ann Howes recently passed and couldn’t enjoy this clip, I think she’d be delighted and impressed!!

this is true. From what i remember, she took a crash course in dancing as a wooden doll before her audition for this roll. She did something right that landed her this role.

She had to do all of it in a corset while her weight was mostly on one foot only touching the floor with a heel on the other and spinning around. I'm sure she was trained in something else if she didn't have dance classes because her balance was too good.

The "blipping" is the sound of ratchets and cogs, which would be used to make that movement happen on old animatronics

this was definitely the thing that got me completely into animatronics and puppetry. From the age of like 2 i loved this movie, and the music box and jester scene was my favourite, my dad would always play it for me :) This cosplay is the most specific but most amazing one i’ve ever seen, and I hope that Chitty Chitty Bang Bang gets more recognition nowadays

I never cared that much for the movie growing up in the 90s but my husband loved it and got it too watch with the kids when they were younger (the oldest is 21 now, how time flies).
