Incredible Functionality from my Prosthetic Hand!

I was hired to do a little bit of the prefab for this years Superbowl. Here's a video of me using my prosthetic hand to grind some mod truss brackets.

Really nice and robust design prosthetic you made ! I have a myo-electric prosthetic left hand and it operates by motion sensors. These sensors are very sensitive ( i can adjust them ) When i'm working with electric tools aspecially grinders the sensors will trigger sometimes by the magnetic fields from the electric motor resulting in a hand that goes its own life. Your body powered has not these problems and you have a descent strong grip what i can see.

An idea I had regarding the finger pads on your hand, I wonder if leather pads would provide the kind of grip and durability you're looking for? No idea how they would be made. This is super cool. I would love to build a similar prosthetic to yours.

If you had unlimited funds, what would you do with your prosthetic hand? What kinds of things would you add to it? Would you re-make it with different materials? Is there technology you'd like to play with? I guess my question is; what's your prosthesis wishlist? Adding on to my comment via an edit. At the end of this video you ask what we think about your project. I think that you make me, and many other people, feel like if something were to ever happen to our own limbs or appendages via illness or accident, it wouldn't be as bad as we think. Your project, I think, gives people a sense of hope.

wow! i just found this channel through The Website Formerly Known As Twitter, and i must say that this is an impressive feat! i’m very curious: how do you actually control the fingers of the hand itself? i saw an earlier video from ~3 years ago mention that it used a gimbal (movement of the entire palm is used to control all the fingers in unison), and that you need to use your right hand to “lock” select fingers in place. is that still the case with these newer models?

Look into the hip joint golden ratio gears on a grasshopper, if you integrated that 1.618 lever into a hand, it could squeeze with the force of a nutcracker.

My father is missing 4 fingers due to an accident in a factory over 20 years ago. He's never been able to afford a prosthetic for it and I recently got into 3d printing. Is there files for that prosthetic you're wearing that I'd be able to aquire?

No, consumer grade fff 3d printing isn't viable for this design. I am going to be collecting names of people that are interested in purchasing one of my kits. I'll probably make a couple of devices available soon to see it it's viable to market the device as a DIY kit.
