The dude is just an amazing guy. Not only his he an awesome artist, but he has a dam heart of gold I tell you. Today is my uncle's birthday. Well my uncle used to drive Davy Knowles tour bus, about 8 years ago, before he had a heart condition. Well I decided to message Davy. Didn't actually expect a reply because it was through fb, well I was wrong. He messaged back, remembered my uncle, and made him a video. Awesome person!

The problem with a lot of blues guitar slingers is that their voices aren't as good as their guitar skills. The ones who can sing AND play great are few and far between. Davy Knowles is one of the few.

Stevie Ray's voice wasn't good at all, does that mean you don't want to listen to him play?
@hilohaw Жыл бұрын
@@vuzz1961 1. That's a matter of opinion, and mine is that SRV had a great voice. 2. SRV is my favorite guitarist of all time. I would have still bought every SRV record, even if he'd only played instrumentals (as I have with, say, Joe Satriani). 3. There's room in the music world for a lot of different talents. But if I applied your question to other artists who don't sing as well, I'd say I can still enjoy their guitar playing, but overall, I enjoy the guys (and gals) who can do it all, more.

Brother this is some boss Blues here, this is deep calls unto deep, this will blister you with some Blissful blues and oh my, if you don't feel the inspiration of this then you don't have the blues and never will. This will galvanized your flesh and give your chill bumps, chill bumps . I first heard him play and sing years ago he was on the high school auditorium stage it looked like, and he was much younger,, but even then he was blessed with a voice that had a vintage Blues Squall to it. This is the kind of Blues that you play over and over and over and over and over again till you can't take it anymore, till you get a full dose of it. There is so much power in music.

One of the greatest guitarist / vocalist in the world in my opinion. I've seen some of greatest live - Santana, BB King, SRV, Randy Rhodes, Ritchie Blackmore, the list is endless. But I have never been outright flattened by one until I saw Davey and this band play live a year ago. Davey is as good as anyone and breathes new life into the hard blues / rock genre that shitty EDM music left for dead 20 years ago. It was just hibernating Waiting out the long winter of soulless quantized pop dreck. The musicianship on display here is stunning. The entire band is as solid as the rock of Gibraltar, but in this number, the keyboardist is incandescent. It's one of the best improvised piano solos I've ever come across. It was an IMPOSSIBLE performance to match, much less surpass at that moment. Only a genius in his prime would be able to take the emotional intensity, passion, and originality of that solo UP another level. Davey does it here with an ease and grace that are absolutely stunning. The aching restraint in his phrasing as the solo builds in waves, each pushing the next a little higher only to fall back just short of your feet. As the last notes of the bruilliant solo ring out and you think it's over, Davey roars another stanza with astonishing passion and catharsis.

Wiener Woods You’re right he does kind of sound like those guys, just like Joe Bonamassa all they do is play other peoples licks and this is why nobody listens to Guitar except for nerds like us. :-) Most guitarists out today sound like they all went to the same guitar teacher. But the favorite guitarists that I liked when I grew up all had a very unique sound and a very unique playing style. Nobody has that anymore and it gets old and lame and it’s reminding me of Traditional Mexican music with the same basic structure in every song.
@wienerwoods4 жыл бұрын
@@toddausfahl6464 No. Knowles has his own licks - hell, his entire playing approach is unique. While he's standing on the shoulders of giants, he's doing his own thing. I'm not a huge Bonamassa fan personally. I find his playing too slick and souless - an uninspired rehashing of classic blues. But you know what? The man has played with Clapton at the Royal Albert Hall, so who the hell am I to pass judgement? Guitar is far from dead my friend.
@toddausfahl64644 жыл бұрын
Wiener Woods he’s a great player I agree. But it’s the songs of mainstream blues that are getting monotonous that I wish would spice up a little. Like Papa Chubby ect... very predictable music.

Davy Knowles is one of the nicest , humblest , guys you would ever meet , for me that just magnifies his unbelievable talent that much more. Definitely keep your eyes open for when he comes to your area and try and get to the show and support him, he usually does a meet and greet after his shows and you can get to chat with him and some band members.
