Hi Wil, such a wonderful Japanese fried rice! So authentic yet very innovative!! A little tip for everyone, cut Konbu with scissors in the air that you don't loose umami on your chopping board. When I cook fried rice, I always add dried green tea(you can use tea bag tea leaves), lot of minerals 😊. I'm a Japanese living in Ireland, I spoke to you when you had Mishima corokke, I'm not sure if you can remember me. I'm from Numazu (next to Mishima) and I love Shizuoka prefecture so much and certainly lake Hamana and Hamamatsu city! Beautiful!! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful Japanese fried rice recipe and introducing Shizuoka prefecture to the world!! It's a fab country to visit, everyone! Have a great day!!

There's a large Asian community just east of my city and ohhhh... they are the best. A lot of Japanese and Chinese. And the best part about it is that there's even a 100% Chinese vegan restaurant!!! That's progress for my country! 😍

I have lived in Shizuoka and climbed Fuji-san. This was in my youth during my college years. It's an unforgettable place. Your take on cha-han is simply outstanding, and both very nutritious and very healthy. I love the addition of edamame. Great video! Please keep 'em coming!

Beautiful recipe, beautiful sound track! My 88 year old mother lives in Atami in the Shizuoka peninsula and I agree it’s an amazing area where there are orange groves and tea growing everywhere. Never thought about the seaweed though and will have to look into it when I return after Covid is under control. Thank you for sharing this beautiful recipe.

I accompanied my ex husband with my two daughters on one of his business trips to Japan. Loved the country. My younger daughter was 2 years old and I took the public transportation everyday to go and see the country and it was not difficult at all traveling alone in Japan with both my kids. I have all the ingredients at home since I cook a lot of Asian food and will make this today. Thank you, Wil, for another delicious recipe.

Tried this recipe twice now. It's going to become a staple because it is so eye vitamin friendly. Haven't been able to find kombu yet so have done without. 1st try: can't find nappa cabbage so used baby bok choy and substituted peas for edame. 2nd attempt: found nappa cabbage. Added toasted sesame oil both times. I ate this down to the last grain of rice. Next attempt I will use sprouted short grain brown rice. The possibilities are just endless. Thank you for this receipe.

I was in Shizuoka visiting Sumpu Castle which was where the first Tokugawa shogunate (Ieyasu) grew up as a hostage. It was absolutely beautiful. It is not a big tourist trap like Kyoto or Tokyo, but Shizuoka is filled with history. While there, we visited Aokigahara, Mt. Fuji, and Saw Mountain in Chiba prefecture. I'm from Chiba, but there are so many things I didn't know about my own country.

We visited Japan for the first time in 2018 and loved it so much that we went again in 2019 where we visited Shizuoka. We even got to visit Mt. Fuji. It is so beautiful and so much to see. We planned to return in 2020, but unfortunately COVID-19 hit and international travel for tourism was cancelled. Once this pandemic passes and we are back to normal, I am sure our next trip will be Japan 🇯🇵 again!
