I LOVED the sandstone and brick together creating, like you said, throw rugs! I can just imagine how stunning the back must look at night with all the lights! Thank you for a wonderful watch Linda....and my hubby said, "Thanks" too!! LOL

Beautifully done! I love the ledge with all the stately containers! The fire place and patio look very inviting and the brick and stone work designs are just exceptional! We have two levels in our back yard too. It’s a work in progress even 26 years later, it’s not always easy to landscape in the shade of a woodland. Thanks so much for the tour! 🌲🍁🌱😃🌲🌲

Works Project Administration - one of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Depression-era programs to employ out-of-work Americans on public works projects - from LaGuardia Airport to post office murals by Native American artist in small Oklahoma towns. A lot of work was done in state and national parks where local craftsmen and indigenous materials were used.

Father of the Bride movie? Did they own the entire area around them and sold off to those 50/60 homes? Hence why such a stately home would be there.

That seems like a very plausible explanation. A former house we lived in was next door to a lovely Dutch colonial. There was a second Dutch colonial down the street that was smaller. We learned that the family that owned the land when it was a farm first built the smaller home, then had the larger one constructed as they prospered. The other homes on the street were a mixture of styles, but all were newer than those two older colonials.

Geez! How much did all of this cost? I guess it doesn't matter for homeowners who can afford little specialty "Rose rocks," that came from the contractor's own collection, or the bricklayers' creativity (that was later removed) incorporated into a one of a kind chimney...
