I find it commendable that you received feedback on a q&a vid, from a subscriber asking why so many plant channels had turned into mainly chore vids, and you took the challenge of switching up your content real quick, and your collection is thriving. Like you really did all that! I can’t keep more than 3 plants going at the same, and when one dies I window shop your collection lol. I’ve killed 3 Heart Leaf Ferns within the last year. That plant is impossible!

My neon pothos has sport variegation! It didn’t show up until the second or third leaf on the vine and now all the new ones come in with a little splash of dark green. It’s cool!

Hey Fern, I recently learned that the variegated thanksgiving cactus is actually endangered and is not allowed to be shipped out of Asia. I tried to buy one but they were not going to sell it to me in Europe. So apparently you are extra lucky and that plant is even more special than we all think. I love your videos and your collection!

I’m not sure if this was an error in translation or what they meant by this. Schlumbergera are native to South America, they are not endangered, and the variegated variety does not occur in the wild. There are quite few people growing named varieties of variegated Schlumbergera in Europe like Norris(red flowering), White Bell(white flowering), and Madam Butterfly(pink flowering). Facebook group are the best place to find them.

@@rebeccaireland6142variegation does occur in the wild. It’s not a “variety” it’s a mutation. They just usually don’t grow fast enough to mature in the wild because they have less chlorophyll and don’t survive

Ive been growing my holiday cactus for a couple years under a grow light that is set to stay on 8 hours a day and it blooms constantly! They are some of the most rewarding plants, I'd love a variegated one 😊❤

Hmmm, I have all 3 holiday cacti I currently have 2 Thanksgiving cacti and all 3 are under grow lights and one is on a west facing window and the ones under the grow light bloom all the time when it’s their time. Anywho I love this variegated version and I’m on the hunt for one! Yours is absolutely stunning!! ❤

I love all the plants shown in this video. I really love Aglaonema - Manillas Pride. I would love to get one!!! I have two Aglaonemas, but not not sure of their names. I find them so easy to care for and can withstand periods of underwatering really well.

One plant you for some reason cannot find in Germany (and maybe Europe) is the Epipremnum jade. I literally collected mine from reverted cuttings of the aureus 😩

I'm really into unique forms of common plants too! I love uncommon forms of Epipremnum aureum and Monstera deliciosa. I'm particularly interested in Terunoworld pothos from Japan. They have so many varieties of pothos. They're really hard to find, but are fun to collect (:

Sport hunting is fun! I've got three different sports, two Monstera and an Alocasia. The variegation isn't always stable but then again if you pay the price of a green Monstera and get a green Monstera in the end, at least you can still sell it for your money back LOL.

I also have a Manila’s pride and I bought two at the same time just for insurance. Well one completely rotted. Like picked it up and all the leaves fell off slime and all. The second one seems to be doing fine. Just growing in tree fern and I water when it’s almost dry. I do struggle with the leaves unfurling. They don’t get stuck but they stay curled up. So strange. I haven’t cracked the code 😂

You can still trigger blooms using grow lights, you just need to alter the numbers of hours and manage the temps. And of course use a grow light with the appropriate PAR for the plant.

Hey Fern How do you figure out water/light sched. For your plants? Does it vary for different kinds of plants that you have?

lots of trial and error, but in general I try to give them as much light as possible. my grow lights usually run for around 14 hours a day. I water most of them once a week :)

The variegated Schlumbergera really is rare. I’ve only managed to find it in one online store where I live, and it’s like 150€ for pretty much a small rooted cutting, and the variegation is bad compared to yours.

Hey Fern, are you familiar with different types of spathiphyllum? I own the spathiphyllum diamond variegata which I absolutely love and is really easy to care for. On my wishlist is also the ‘silver streak’ which has a white vein in the middle and the ‘blue ice’ which has gorgeous blue-ish leaves with pronounced veins.

Ok Fern.. so my varigated thanksgiving cactus had the white/cream edges and now they have gone green 😨 what!the!heck! 😅 I may have to move her to a bit less bright location and hopefully the varigation comes back.... and I found it at home depot! love this video and hope you have had time to recharge and or get normal household stuff done without worrying about filming.

Oh Would I ever like to get a small cutting off that gorgeous Variegated Thanksgiving Cactus. Where did you get it? It's so pretty I have a bunch of Thanksgiving cactus, and Easter Cactus, in various flower colours. I found one that had White around the Green Leaves, but it seems to be reverting to just green. Someone told me to put it under lots of light, so it's in my Grow cabinet under lights, but the colour still seems to be fading. Do you have any Ideas on How I could get that colour back? I have 8 Aglaonemas. I haven't this one but would love to get it! All easy care except one. My tricolor, it's different to the rest. It has finer roots then the normal ones and requires a different substrate and more watering. I'm guessing this one may possibly have a similar care needs especially if it has the same fine roots like the pictum tricolor.
