May I suggest you get a 12-18 inch piece of PVC pipe and glue a cap on the one end. Then you can use 2-3 large cable ties to attach it to one of the legs on your cart. You can the use this to hold you poles and plant supports out of the way but easily accessible. If you have a lot of each you could put a second pipe on another leg, (diagonly opposite), to put the poles in one and plant supports in the other. (** Ask a local plumber if they have any odd size pieces of PVC pipe, then you wouldn't need to get a full 6-8ft pipe. Unless you wanted to have it around like me 😁).

I have a cart and a two dedicated shelf units (one being a 8-er Kalkar with two sets of drawers and 2 doors plus bins). The top of my cart is empty because I fill watering cans and put them there to lug around water when I do water. Middle shelf holds tools and bits and bobs I need to do pruning, inspections, ties, as well as pump bottles for different fertilizers, etc. And most used liquids on the bottom (fertilizers, etc.) in bottles. And I have hooks attached to the top shelf for brushes and rags on one side, and a roll of paper towels on the other side.

I also make my own soil mix. I use coco coir, worm castings (for nutrients), medium size perlite, and an orchid bark that has horticultural charcoal in it. I also will add more of one thing for certain types of plants and also lately been adding any sphagnum petels that are at the bottom of my sphagnum bag or come off after reporting a sphagnum plant. Been loving that mix and has been helping a lot. For my succulents since I don’t have a lot I usually buy a bag of succulent soil (actually got the Mollys succulent mix because of you) so very excited to experiment with that this year.

I have 2 carts like that but I use those for craft supplies. I keep my planty stuff all over the place! I have a shelf unit in my laundry room for some stuff. That could use a cleaning out. I could probably fit more on it if I organize it better. My pots are what I am in desperate need of a dedicated spot for them!! That scoop looks like the one from Miracle Gro plant food.

A super easy mix that seems to work well for me is a mix of “regular” potting mix and a cactus/succulent mix. I do like you and keep them separate and have some of it mixed and it’s easy to adjust if I need more drainage or less drainage. On new plants I’ll add some worm castings. I need some orchid bark! 💗

I pretty much do the same mix as you although I use less bark. Chunky perlite is so hard to find. I have found hoyas need alot of light to bloom. Mine is also huge but never bloomed until I hung it outside in the late spring. My windows just don't get enough light. Putting yours on top of your cabinet may not be enough light for blooms. I have bottles with green that I can't scrub so will try salt and vinegar. I super love this video not just for the tip but that there wasn't annoying music that I have to mute. I watch alot of videos that have the horrid constant drum beat and it drives me crazy lol I live in Coquitlam, close to Vancouver so hugs and best wishes from your neighbour❤

The cheap way, but my plants are doing well with it. I get Jiffy seed starter mix in a bag it's like $7 & Better-gro mix orchid medium the big bag is $8. They have a few kinds. If I have it on hand I add more perlite if it calls for it. I don't go out of my way for it though. I just started experimenting with pumice (I always wanted to, it's not cheap so that's why I have always used perlite). Also, just like different plants like different types of soil... You have to remember what you are as a waterer and what material your pots are made of!!! It is a key. Read the bag of soil/potting mix! They have different things. The one I use is mostly coco choir with peat moss & vermiculate. I specifically picked it, because it doesn't have a "moisture agent" like some do. That's bad for an over-water. Honestly, if you only have money to buy the cheapest thing on the market with nothing else... Try it and you can still grow plants just adjust watering. If you love plants, but are short on cash then do it! No one should be priced out of this hobby! Just be careful not to experiment too much with the more costly plants. 🪴
