Drinks in Turkish cuisine are in accordance with the climate. A big cold glass of ayran is the best electrolyte you can have when you are dehyrated. It is a very nice drink if you are having a keto diet. I don't know why it isn't so popular in any other countries. In winters, we drink more sugary and creamy drinks such as salep, boza and şıra. They warm you up, they're high in calories so give you energy in cold winters.

Btw, I've never seen anyone in my life eating İskender Kepab at İskender restaurant, pay the check and go to Çiya right after that)))) You'd normally need a day after visiting one of those restaurants to recover))) Well done!!! 👏👏👏

Thanks for watching from Kyiv 🙌 We cannot say it was easy, physically, to eat at those dishes back to back, but it was very easy to eat them from a taste standpoint. Turkish food is amazing, incredible, and more 👏 We couldn't stop eating everything tasted so good. Thanks for leaving us a comment, we appreciate it.
@sejan8812Ай бұрын
Okay a couple of notes! Tahini is like peanut butter but it’s made of sesame seeds. The oil inside the seeds makes it really creamy when you blend it fine enough. Helva is a type of desert known in Turkey and Middle East. Like many European deserts it combines an earthy creamy flavor with the source of sweetness. Kokoreç can be unsanitary if not prepared properly but they are regulated. It’s not like they chop the instestines real fine and cook them (that’s what I thought when I was a kid). They only cook the muscle layer which is sepetated from whatever going on inside the intestine with a really strong filtering layer. That filtration is really important in physiology because it’s what keeps the bacterias in our intestines from infecting our blood and bodies. So, if prepared properly it should be completely safe to consume.
@ThePassportCoupleАй бұрын
Wow, thanks for sharing all these details! We had no idea about tahini and helva! so cool to learn how rich in history and flavor they are. And the kokorec info is super helpful too! Makes us appreciate it even more 😊🙌🏻

dude, you should definitely not eat menemen with a fork or spread it on bread. You should tear the bread into the size of a spoon, dip it in the menemen and use the bread as a spoon. The trick here is to have the same ratio of bread and menemen when you put it in your mouth :)

The trick with Rakı is that you have it with meze (sort of like a light meal - and you can have it when eating fish). But the food pairs with the drink, and you take a bite of this and have a sip of Rakı, have a taste of that and have a sip of Rakı, go to the next bite and have a sip of Rakı, and so on... (the food is actually used as an excuse to drink - I also recommend it when you're having a massive mixed grill kebab meal)

Exactly, what you are used to. We drink ayran or kefir 24/7, with meal or without meal. I drink Kefir at least 5 times a day, it's fermented milk, the taste is sumilar to Ayran but thicker. I can't drink Coke, makes my stomach uncomfortable and also don't like the taste. I like sour things, such as pickles, especially cabbage, sweet pepper or pickle juice.

You cannot understand some things in Turkey just by trying. For example, if you have a Turkish breakfast with two people, it will be too much for you, but you should be there with either your whole family or all your friends. You may be tempted by the abundance of food, but the important thing is to be with all your friends. For example, the raki you drink should be large and drink it slowly with a meal. Even a Turk should spend at least three or four years at the raki table for raki. You are just experiencing, not licking. For example, call your families, be at least 5 or 6 people, but at least. Then experience the Turkish breakfast. Turkish drinks are probiotic, they may not taste pleasant to you when you first drink them, but we use them to balance the meal. It is both healthy and once you get used to it, you will realize how good they make you feel. Just tasting some things does not tell you the real experience and life. Stay in Turkey for at least 3 or 4 months and the pieces will fall into place :) I wish you to make beautiful memories.. enjoy..

Sorry to burst the bubble but Balik Ekmek is mackerel and is not longer caught fresh for those making it as the supply has dwindled and has been using imported Norwegian mackerel for years now. The days of plenty in the sea are no longer. Let me help you pronounce Lah - Ma - June and it's not a pizza !!!! Its Lahmacun . Sorry you never have Raki alone it's a drink that you have with meze ( tapas style) and never with desert. Sorry you guys really should have had a person to Gove you advice in advance.
