Many thanks to Afia Tours (www.afiatours-ghana.com/) for taking on this amazing village food day trip in Ghana (Note: I paid for this tour, it is not sponsored, but I fully recommend it - it was awesome)!
It was about a three hour drive from Accra to get to the village. The village was somewhere in the central Cape Coast region of Ghana (however no near to the coast, but much inland). The people from the village were so incredibly friendly, and it was one of the most genuinely hospitable and friendly villages I’ve ever visited. It was an honor and privilege to spend time at the village.
As we arrived, they had already started cooking some Ghanaian food specialties. One the menu, we had banku with okra soup, fufu (a staple of West African food) with palm nut soup, and finally fried plantains with beans. All the food was incredibly good, and it was one of the best bowls of fufu I ate during my entire time in Ghana.
Thanks again to Afia Tours (www.afiatours-ghana.com/) for setting this up!

Mark is truly a global citizen. He respects people's food culture and doesn't look at countries with a stereotypical lens. A lot of Westerners who go to Africa engage in "poverty porn" but I love how Mark is focusing on the culture and its richness.

Mark, you are one of the nicest human beings, as beautiful as this people, I have ever seen in my life. Just imagine, maybe you will have an effect in this village and change some children's life by being an example for what you're doing, visiting countries, travelling for food and culture, by being so humble and down to earth... Africans r a sizeable population in India and r called "Siddhis" and r mainly from Kenya, Uganda. @fabianel7280
@fabianel7280 5 жыл бұрын
@déjà vu Doesnt matter. I know those ppl knew nothing of CHATTEL slavery. The wickedest most inhumane act known to mankind was the diaspora from West Africa, headed by the European to attain White Supremacy and global power. No matter how it began, the acts done by the European is still the highest standard of evil ever.
@fabianel7280
@fabianel7280 5 жыл бұрын
@déjà vu How can you not blame the European for his own actions from the slave castles they built off the gold coast, to the atrocities in the Americas? That makes no sense. A whole constitution was written off the backs of Africans, who were known as 3/5 of a human being and treated as animals. The European did that, let's not down play all that history.
@fabianel7280
@fabianel7280 5 жыл бұрын
@déjà vu But that literally IS the narrative. Part of the narrative is also what you mentioned but that's beside the point. Every nation sold war booty to other nations for indentured servitude not chattel slavery. As a matter of fact the word "slavery" itself denotes a Slavic Euopean, the original slave. But the word slave doesnt denote treating humans as chattel, as the Slavic Europeans were never treated as chatell, they retained their culture, languages and customs, and that's the difference. When the motive and programming is that you're so called race is superior and the people being enslaved are not humans but liken to horses and cows (cattle), it defeats your narrative of Nations and tribes selling war booty. Chatell slavery was introduced by Europeans, that where every thing went wrong, not Africans selling Africans, and that's just a small portion. You gotta think about all the other tribes that directly fought the European on their own land, with no involvement of warring tribes. You gotta think about the hate the Spanish had for the BlackaMoor, the story is way bigger than African tribes selling each other. Much more poltics that led to evil deeds than that narrative.
