I cry everytime I hear this song. It was my friend's favorite song. He died back in 2017 in a bad car crash. I was there with him. We were listening to this exact song when a drunk driver swerved right into us, running is off the road. He died upon collision and I suffered a concussion. Now I cry when I hear this song because it's associated with a traumatic event in my life-- losing someone whom I considered a brother. 😔

Aqueous Transmission by Incubus was the song that defined the very beginning of my friendship with my late best friend and soul brother 'Shaggy' (Kevin Arus-Altuz according to his state ID but of course no one ever called him that lol). We lost him in November 2012. He died suddenly at his parents home one night from an adverse reaction to an illicit research chemical/drug. It devastated everyone who knew him, because he wasn't a heavy drug user or addict. It was just a 'wrong turn at Albuquerque' that unfortunately took him straight to an early grave. Way too early. After that, our song and all the lyrics took on an even deeper meaning. It went from a sad break-up song to one about devastating loss but still holding onto hope, so now I'm doing my best to stay on this river journey called Life as long as possible, praying when I reach the end that Shaggy will be waiting on the shore to greet me, and I can finally give him all the memories and stories I've been collecting for him. Whenever I fall apart and the grief starts to set in and shut me down, I play Aqueous Transmission and it helps me smile again. Or at least not cry all day. I'm sorry for the loss of your friend and what you went through. Hang in there :) *edit: I also survived a near fatal car crash when a drunk driver in 2008 smashed the car I was in 500 ft down the road and into a ditch. He hit my side (front passenger) with his 2 ton Chevy at 50mph. Never hit the brakes. You survived that crash for a reason. Just like I did. Even if we can never really know why or how. Or why we we're the ones who got to stay, but our friends didn't get to. But my point is this, we still have the rest of our lives to try and figure those questions out. I'll be praying for you, and wish you all the best.

@moncorp115 сағат бұрын
also, "the frog oblivious" The boiling frog is an apologue describing a frog being slowly boiled alive. The premise is that if a frog is put suddenly into boiling water, it will jump out, but if the frog is put in tepid water which is then brought to a boil slowly, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death. The story is often used as a metaphor for the inability or unwillingness of people to react to or be aware of sinister threats that arise gradually rather than suddenly. Like the creeping dangers of leftism. Orwell had it right.

@kc86397 жыл бұрын
Most have been taught to hide and bury our pain, which, by it's very nature, is negative energy that's now stored deep within the hard-drive that is our subconscious. Negative energy is the root cause of many illnesses, and we're just now being taught this. Imagine a world where we share our pain with one another? Where men can share their deepest secrets without the fear of being called a "homo" or "queer" for being mildly vulnerable to his friends, or to society for that matter. Or a world where women never have to fear being emotionally or physically beaten down and are valued as equals, if not valued even to a higher standard for being the very life that conceives, feeds, and nurtures new life. I picture a world where more people will one day hear the screams and come running towards that vibration to join in and release their pain. It's time to take the world back....In fact, it's time to take our own world back.

This song used to make me feel like the world was so full of beauty and possibilities when I was 18. It gets ugly quick if ur not careful. I still enjoy the peace and good memories of those times. I hope to make new memories at 41

Whew, the lyrics to this song hit so different at the age of 38. Please young people don't be afraid to go out there and take chances at a young age. Don't let the opportunities and 'life pass you by.' It honestly goes by so fast.

I remember as a teenager when this song first came out that I feared to be one of those people who let life pass them by. Now in my 30s I’m sad to see that I did let life pass me by. If only we could go back in time and live life like we are meant to.

I believe the message of this track is "stop playing with time" You don't realize that until decades turn into years, years turn into months, months turn into weeks, weeks turn into days, days turn into hours, hours turn into minutes, and minutes turn into seconds. keep your eyes on time people, because it will sneak up on you.

It hits different when you are older. In my twenties, i thought it was one of the not so interesting songs from incubus and i skipped it a lot on the cd. Now the song is talking to me and makes really sad. Working for years to much in this capitalistic society, being there for people who don't appreciate. So I'm burnt out. My life really passed by and I'm to tired to do something about it or even thinking about what i want or what is possible now.

Bat your eyes girl. Be otherworldly. Count your blessings. Seduce a stranger. What's so wrong with being happy? Kudos to those who see through sickness yeah Over and over and over and over She woke in the morning. She knew that her life had passed her by She called out a warning. Don't ever let life pass you by. I suggest we Learn to love ourselves, Before its made illegal When will we learn, When will we change Just in time to see it all come down Those left standing will make millions Writing books on ways it should have been She woke in the morning. She knew that her life had passed her by She called out a warning. Don't ever let life pass you by. Floating in this cosmic Jacuzzi We are like frogs oblivious To the water starting to boil, No one flinches and we all float face down She woke in the morning. She knew that her life had passed her by She called out a warning. Don't ever let life pass you by. Pass you by.

The meaning of this is so dope first of all. Secondly, I love how the verses don't necessarily rhyme but it's so subtle that one hardly even notices because the cadence and meaning carries so much more of the weight. Lastly, it all just comes together in a dope cohesive way where if you didn't get it by the song alone then the video surely bridges the gap in any misunderstandings. Love it, through and through.

I remember when this song first came out! I was (and still am) a huge Incubus fan. I remember them saying they had to change a scene or two in the video because of 9/11. My friend lost his life in a car accident on 9/10/2001 at 16 years old, and I found out on THE 9/11 at school. The morning of the attacks, maybe an hour before the first plane hit. For some reason, this song reminds me of him. Love you, Brian Michael Schmidt!!
