The Westworld Pre-Show - Ep 2 with Hax Dogma and Axel Foley

One thing I feel you guys didn't touch but is important in looking back at the first episode is Dolores changing her little black dress into a golden sequin dress when she leaves the car to go and meet Liam at that party. I think that's a very important underhighlighted bit about Dolores. The first season of Westworld already played with the black and white hat symbolism in showing Williams fall from being a nice guy into the Man in Black. He literally changed his white hat for a black hat. Old cowboy films already used the hat colours for the audience to understand who the good and who the bad guy of the story is. The first season really used this quite a bit. The first episode used this quite a bit too, there's a lot of black/white stuff going on. Now with the third season we open with the German investor in China, with his Asian wife. The German is wearing black clothing, the wife is wearing white clothing. Later we learn the German is a prick and the wife one of his victims. It's not just their daytime clothing: the wife wears a white piyama and the German black pants + shirt when he's in bed. When we meet Dolores she's naked in the pool, but when she gets out she wears a black robe. We've seen her in baby blue and white clothing most of the previous two seasons, so that's a change. Dolores shows the German the wife he murdered, who's also wearing black. We know she's fake and nothing bu a tool used by Dolores. When the German tries to attack Dolores he ends up dead. That's when we see his wife, wearing a largely white robe. We only see the top, white, half when the wife realises she's been set free. The white really stands out in an otherwise dark picture. After that the camera is set from the sky, looking down. The German is in his pool, dead. We see the walls surrounding his pool are very dark, outside of those walls things look much whiter. It's as if the dark, evil, part is locked inside those walls and the people outside are white (good). The scenes before the opening credits tell a visual story if we solely look at the black and white colours. A woman we don't know her alliance of in the beginning (naked) but is later to be revealed evil kills an evil man and in the process sets an innocent woman free. When we first meet Caleb, what's he wearing? He's wearing a grey shirt. He's in the middle of black and white. His walls are grey and his bed is grey. The outside is very white. When he goes to work he's wearing a black shirt, as are most people on the street. The mood shirt of the guy he robs the ATM with, to me, is a clear hint pointing towards the outfits of people bearing a significance. When we meet Charlotte Hale, what's the wearing? She's in a full white outfit. The men in the board room are all wearing a fully dark outfit. When we see Bernard, who's always worn black before, is now wearing a white/grey outfit. That's when we get to Dolores going to the Incite party. Just before she changes her dress into the golden sequin one you can see an almost intimidated look on her face, but as soon as her dress changes the look on her face does too. I pose that the changing of the dress signifies her playing a different part. She is hiding her true intentions when she enters the Incite grounds. That's what the change of the dress signifies. She's playing a lovable character Lara. She's pretending to be someone she's not. That brings us to Caleb going to his job interview. Note the colour suit Caleb is wearing. It's a brownish colour. He's also pretending to be someone he's not at that interview. He ends up not getting the job. The next time we see Dolores she's wearing a white minidress with beautiful black stripes. She's being very charming, as if she fully supports Liam. The weird thing is that as soon as their flying object lands and she walks down a floor or two, we see she's changed outfits. This either means something, or it's a production gaff. I don't think it's a mistake. She also behaves a bit different, asking about Rehoboam. It's the first time we meet Rehoboam, and this is what she's after. She's wearing her black cardigan over a red dress.After a Bernard and Caleb scene we see Dolores again. She's in a full black dress (with an interesting W shape on the chest) and being fairly agressive in asking Liam about who controls Rehoboam. As her outfit got blacker, she became more geared towards Rehoboam. This is a long analysis to show I think the outfits the characters wear are very important to show their intentions and moods.

One last thing.... I'm calling it. The pearl inside of Charlotte is Maeve's daughter. Her spirit might have been saved, but her data lived on as Delos property. She has to be at least 50 years old in human years. Dolores treats her like a child in the trailer, and she is one thing that can stop Maeve from her mission.

The show is so far removed from what made it good in series 1 it's a completely different show now ...not for the better
