Incredible episode you guys! Awesome storytelling with Tom Jermann telling how he put the booklets and inside materials together and of his historied fandom. Great insight by Jason, Nicholas, and Joe too. I absolutely love "Creatures Of The Night", still do. Its my favorite KISS album ever, though I love them all I remember even at 10 in 1982, I was reading a lot of U.S. rock magazines and in Chicago,IL, Vinnie was shown in magazines and introduced as Vinnie "Wiz" Vincent and the Ace departure was brought up in several U.S.rock magazines, but not most of the concert ads. Vinnie was also with KISS in a photo on the cover of Song Hits magazine in make up, but that didn't come out till June 83 when the tour was almost over. But either way, this box set truly illustrates the incredible history of an album where Gene, Paul, and Eric and Vinnie as well as all of the guitarists involved,along with the late producer Michael James Jackson, created a KISS album that is just lethal and bombastic. This boxset is an absolute treasure chest!!!!

Really enjoyed the episode guys. Yes, The Gotham City News is a great addition, Tom. Love the format and reading the track-by-track. Truly, the whole box set for both Destroyer and COTN are wonderful additions to any KISS fans collection. They really are time capsules. And I'm with you Jason and Tom, an Unmasked box set would very cool.

These box sets are the only Kiss collectible (besides albums) I've wanted to pull my wallet out for since... I can't even remember. Awesome time capsules and a must have for me. Unfortunately my wallet is empty but I will get my hands on this somehow, loved the Destroyer box and big thumbs up for the inclusion of the Atmos disc :) Great episode with Tom! :)

I put off watching this, because I didn't want to see anything (beyond what we knew) before opening my set. I love this. So cool to hear all of this inside detail. (PS...both my DESTROYER and CREATURES Paper Folders Logo are backwards. I figures that is how they were suppose to be. Very cool for you all to clarify). Thank you all for sharing this. Great show!!! Lots of details. Would have loved so much a box set for Alive and Alive II. But maybe the concept does not fit well for live albums. But I was really hoping for something mot special for Alive II. That said, thumbs up of the Tom's passion and everybody here (Jason, Nichols and Joe) for that kind of content. I work in the music industry and I just liove earring talking about everything related to the production of such a product. But, once again, I just can't believe we did not get a spectacular box set like this one for Alive II or even a lithograph of the iconic gatefold photo. Thumbs up guys!!!

I have seen an alternate cover with Vinnie in his Egyptian warrior makeup on the cover. Serious collector's Item now. The other cover with Bruce Kullick and Eric Carr on the cover without makeup was aimed at their newer fans who became fans around the "Lick It Up" era to get their interrest in the album. It was a marketing strategy.

Ooh, i have The Mracle box set too! (Huge Queen collector) I love hearing the songs in some of the rawer formats - the final album was a little too polished and not my favourite. But the box set uncovered some cool gems! Ironically both KISS and Queen only have TWO album focussed box sets each. Can't wait to see what the next Queen one is. I already know what the KISS one is (as i've contributed to it!) but won't give a clue other than... the album has a KISS logo on it! 🤣

That is the prototype of the Glow In The Dark Picture Disc. Apparently, it would have been too expensive to make a die that would cut the eyes out on the slicks, so they decided to do a Glow version and a picture disc version. I believe 10 prototypes were made, and I have never seen one for sale yet. Partners in Crime was not flagged as different on Last Licks

ALIVE II yes! With ALL of the songs performed on that tour- Hooligan, Take Me, Black Diamond, Let me Go R&R, Firehouse, Do You Love Me, R&R All Night, and alternates. Let's get it Done! Do Love Gun too next year, why not? Hurry before we are all dead. If they ever do it we need a REMIXED guitars UP mix disc of "Unmasked" as well as the original album type mix....Still wish for ALIVE and Rock and Roll Over and even The Elder with those Ace solos added to tracks!

Tom, are you involved at all in the packing/shipping materials selection? I’m curious why Destroyer box was so meticulously packaged in a thoughtful way to protect it during shipping, but Creatures box was just put into a cardboard box with zero padding or protective material. Really surprised by that.

I think the creatures box set is amazing ! I don’t think I’ll be able to get it! But just a fun thing to think about! When kiss came out with creatures and new costumes ! It would of been hard to figure ! When ace still had his same costume from the elder! In reality it was a hidden clue that ace was quitting the band ! Ironic since the 1st two bix sets ( assuming the importance of their place in kiss recordings ). Destroyer came out after kiss broke across north America ( u.s.a & canada ) with Alive. Alive got fans the vibe of what kiss was like in their image & live music & attitude without seeing a show. So destroyer was definitely a departure from their typical songs & musical feeling ..being more streamlined & across the board. They lost alit of fans & the 1st few singles flopped & the album was sliding down the charts, until a D.J. flipped over Detroit Rock city & played the b-side Beth that became a hit & made kiss a bona-fide top act . Same with creatures as kiss had been sliding in their popularity & musical feel over the past 3 years. Alot of fans grew up & out of kiss or started to not take them seriously as a rock band as their base became alot younger & they started to become a rock " brand" .... plus the music had gone through various styles in 3 years time. Not including various line up changes including losing ace; which many fans felt gipped as he was no longer in the band but was still presented as a member. The tour sold very poorly as the record initially.....but it took kiss back to their raw sound & heavy rock gritty look. So it goes to show you when your going through changes or at a low ebb....you actually reach new heights.

My first and only kiss concert was on creachers ,,it was the show that Vinny was doing his 40 min,solo that Paul and Gene was so pissed off,, I was right up front saw everything,,Paul had to go over to him to stop him,,

Where did you guys order from? I got mine from KOL and there was no packing material to protect it. So one corner has a dent which drives me crazy. Destroyer was very well packed and protected and arrived mint. I was surprised they went from that to literally just throwing this in a box. Even some of the materials inside are bent. Not from shipping though. Just lack of careful handling. Shame. It’s a beautiful set. I was hoping it would arrive in perfect condition. $100 more than Destroyer too, yet no protective packing material. Baffling.

My bootleg tape from Dec 31,1982 has Strutter after Creatures and DRC at the end of the show. Maybe the show changed later in the tour

If they stick to the decade anniversary theme, they missed the boat on Alive II and Love Gun this year, which would have been 45th anniversary… so if they wait until 50th, it’s gonna be 2027! Ugh I hope not…. that’s way too long. Alive and DTK will be 50 in 2025, KISS debut and HTH will be 50 in 2024, R&R over will be 50 in 2026, Dynasty will be 45 in 2024, Unmasked will be 45 in 2025, Elder will be 45 in 2026…. and that’s just the make up era stuff, which I would want first before anything post Lick It Up. They aren’t going to put out 3 box sets in 2024 alone so i’m not sure how they’re going to pull this off if they stick to the even decade schedule(40, 45, 50). I do know that the Alive and Alive II box sets should absolutely have all of the complete shows recorded for each album…mixed but no modern bullshit put on it(triggers, overdubs etc). Wildwood, Cleveland, Davenport, and Detroit 75…..and Tokyo 77( both shows)the soundcheck recordings they did, and LA Forum if they even actually recorded those 3 shows…. which i’m skeptical of.

You use the word "Separations" as if you are a Lithographer, yet you do not know a pocket folder with 1/2" spine & gusseted pockets. Hint: dates on printed matter do not connote separation dates. The designer knows the most, yet in 35yrs i never once said, "Oh, i'm just typesetting." Also, with a band like Kiss, the printers would have gummed and archived the printing plates, to avoid duplicated tasks, when it is quite possible that it will be reprinted.

I really enjoyed what Tom had to say, but man, Nicholas talked WAY too much and interrupted Tom multiple times. I laughed when Joe said "not as sorry as I am" after Nicholas apologized for talking so much. I would have liked to hear more from Tom on this, so maybe Nicholas should not be included in next year's video about the box set that will be released late next year.
