Great little tip with the clutch tool. Thanks. I had the same problem with a 17 I bought. I got it a little cheaper because of that. It’s runs great now.

How many plugs does it take to index a plug at a dealer same at parts store were can u get spacers for that reason.

I was told if you torque the spark plug to spec and it’s not clocked correctly to toss the spark plug out and get a new one. They are all supposed to clock correctly when torqued to spec. The hard part is torquing them though. Not much space to work with

I’m confused as to how your index of your plug changes over time??
@JT2JZ
@JT2JZ Жыл бұрын
The index of the plug does not change over time. If your plugs are not indexed correctly they were not installed correctly. Some people do not check this.

Mine does the same thing, sputters than almost dies , did yours almost shut off? I need to index mine today
@JT2JZ

Yes it would almost stall a few times or would sound like it’s running on one cylinder. Start with new plugs and I bet you will be good to go 👍

I just got my sled out before our trip out west and one of the plugs was fouled only has 1k miles, it ran like shit! I’m thinking bad gas, do you drain you gas each year?
@JT2JZ
@JT2JZ 4 жыл бұрын
I actually never drain my gas and have never had an issue yet. Modern fuel seems to last up to a year relatively easily these days. It’s still possible to get bad fuel or water in the fuel ( especially in the winter months ) but usually you would know right away not after sitting for 6 months.

@@JT2JZ hopefully new fuel and correctly index plugs will fix it!

Ya honestly two stroke sleds are very reliant on good plugs. It’s such an easy maintenance item I try and change them every season with good quality plugs from the dealership. I usually ride 1000-1500kms a year and the plugs look well used in that service interval.

Man can they make it any harder to get to on those plugs?

Right! It’s definitely a pain in the ass. I wouldn’t want to be changing them on a mountain that’s for sure.

No doubt.... and even when you get the plug completely threaded in, it still doesn't feel like the proper torque is applied. Makes me feel uneasy

Agreed. I had one plug that I though was clocked and torqued correctly and it actually loosened off when I was riding one day. Started to get an intermittent bog. Came home and found oil around the plug and it had wiggled out almost a full turn. I’m sure being boosted amplified the issue but still. I had to over torque it a bit to have it clocked correctly still. Damn things. Something so simple is such a pain!

@@JT2JZ all they'd have to do is make the airbox behind the secondarily cluch into a two piece removable and a guy would have direct access to the plugs and easily be able to put the proper torque on those bad boys.
@JT2JZ

That would be to easy! I wonder how hard the new factory turbos are to work on. Probably a lot more plumbing in the way

@@JT2JZ awesome! My sled is doing the same thing and the plugs were indexed improperly like yours. I’ll try new ones. Thanks

I’m sure my turbo set up was amplifying my issue but plugs are the easiest and cheapest thing to start with regardless. Good luck man and stay safe out there. Avalanche risk is crazy high in my area right now. We triggered a couple of small slides yesterday.
