Just blew my belt on a lake 10km from no where. Your video saved my bacon. The girlfriend would not have liked the walk back. Thank the good Lord for 3G service too!

Damn, 3G seems like such a short time ago. I just upgraded to 5G today, and I'm 2 years late because I stubbornly held on to 4G as long as I could by using outdated equipment. How the time changes, haha. It makes me miss the landlines we had when I was younger. I'm only 31, but your comment was made when I was 22. I've made so many mistakes since then. Oh well, welcome to 5G and 2023, and also factory turbos, that shits crazy badass!!

Great video. Thank you. Finally a Ski-Doo belt adjustment video that thoroughly explains the belt adjustment.

Running the belt loose means you are not engaging in the lowest gear, that is the only difference in performance. Once you are moving there is no effect, the adjustment is only for engagement tension. It is harder on your belt to stop and start when you run it loose. It's like trying to pull out in second gear with a stickshift - you can do it but it's not a great idea. I recommend running your belt as tight as possible as long as it doesn't make a squeal at idle. You can't really judge by how high it sits in the sheave because there are minor variations in center to center distance between sleds, even of the same make and model - but it is a good starting point. My advice is run it tight until you hear squeal at idle, then back it off bit by bit until you get to just the right tension. Don't forget as the belt wears you will need to retighten. Running it tight could cause excess engine braking, so if you don't like the feel of that run it a little looser. The point is there is no really clear cut way to know you have it right without tuning and testing. Check for burned rubber marks on the primary sheave at the engagement point - that can be caused by the belt being too loose and it burns as it struggles to engage.

So I have a pretty serious troubleshooting issue with my secondary, it seems it doesn’t wanna adjust when trying to adjust it as per this video. I tried everything and it just doesn’t wanna move back into position almost as it’s seized up. Any input would be great.

I think one thing that I did today was make sure your track is off the ground. I am not sure in this video if it’s off the ground but I tried it today without the track in the air and would not move, then when I lifted the track off the ground I was able to adjust as it was free spinning.
