Its nice to see someone else that rescues turtles from the middle of the road, I picked up 2 on a recent trip to my daughters, the box turtles are easy, snapping turtles a little tough, my wife says I’m going to get hit by a car saving wildlife. Oh well, I am careful but every life is worth saving

Slim you were very close to our hometown. We live only about 20 minutes from Blackwell Horse camp and growing up I spent many a day there horseback riding. When my Dad was in his mid-20's (now almost 93), he worked for the Forestry service and sat in that tower (AKA 16 corner tower) keeping an eye out for fires. When he worked for the forestry there wasn't any stairs going up to the tower. During his time there was a ladder going up the side of the tower. He often would work at night and would have to climb in the dark. My ancestor settled a large portion of that area and when my Dad was a youngster before the lake went in they farmed a large portion of that bottom land.

Another great video Mr. Slim. Your production quality rivals that of National Geographic. I grew up watching Lorne Greene's Last of the Wild so your videos take me back to my youth. It must be that North of the border charm in your voice that soothes the savage beast within. Thanks for all of your hard work and good luck in your travels. And best keep to the forests with the wildlife where you are safe. See you again soon.

A little nomad trick, so you don't have to waste water cleaning dishes, is to put some water in a spray bottle (you can get them at dollar stores) and also have one with vinegar, use that to spray your dishes to clean them, then wipe dry.

Slim, you are in my backyard! The Blackwell horse camp is the lap of luxury in the Hoosier National Forest. I'm sorry you missed the MUCH better option of the *unmarked* dispersed camping a few miles east on Hickory Ridge Road and the other gravel roads surrounding the Maumee Reservation Boy Scout Camp. I've been camping there for literally more than a half century, and this is definitely such a hidden gem that those of us in the know generally don't talk about it.

As a resident of Indiana for many years, I can assure you that there are many fine things to see and do in that state. If you're near Bloomington, you're not far from McCormick's Creek State Park, which has a similar canyon like the Grand Canyon, but on a small scale. Also there are caves there that one can check out. They aren't dangerous or too small. You are there right about at Morel Mushroom hunting time. They are the best. Watch out for Poison Ivy & Oak. Yeah, the weather can get muggy alright, but boy does that make for great tomatoes.

That is one of the most colorful Kayaks I've ever seen. Those overhead views of you climbing the steps of the Lookout tower required a whole lot of extra effort on your part. Nice slow panoramic footage once you got to the top Easy to spot your Kayak & vehicle when you showed the parking area from atop the tower. Where are other people that have those other vehicles? A whole lot easier going back down from atop the tower. Yes, the tower gave you a "good view" & an excellent workout for legs & lungs. Loved your turtle encounter. Each time I see you in that Kayak I remember you expressing your fear of water, which you've overcome. Definitely, being out in the boonies by yourself is, indeed, THE safest place to be, much safer than walking down main street & having to deal with the ubiquitous panhandler. "The beauty of decay", well put Loved your "Taste" test. Rest Areas along Indiana interstates are the absolute worst. Enjoyed reading many comments as much as watching your video. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada

So great to see you have visited Indiana. You should visit us in the autumn and winter. Indiana has great seasons. I see that we have been quick to note there are no bears in Indiana (except for the few that have swum the Ohio River? Or, do the cross on one of the bridges? No one has asked them. The bears usually take an amble for a couple weeks and return back to Kentucky. They are such an unusual site that we track them.) The viewing of the Pilated Woodpecker was great! Come back soon!

It would be fair to say that I enjoy every video you make. I too am amazed at how much effort you must put into placing and retrieving cameras, but I have not tried any of your meal recipes as yet. I also enjoy watching a Scottish Vlogger (Steve Marsh) to see how long he can survive the Scottish breakfast. Although I can appreciate a low-salt diet is not a prerequisite for you, I will however continue to eagerly watch every future video you produce in the hope that soon I will see an inspirational camping recipe that I can use!
