Huston Smith wrote and narrated this film for Hartley Film Foundation. Images gathered from across the subcontinent with poetic narration combine to underscore how Indian culture, from the most mundane daily ritual to temple ceremonies, carries the promise of spiritual awakening and enduring Hindu wisdom.
Originally produced and distributed by the Hartley Film Foundation.
Special thanks to Kendra Smith.

Fortunately or Unfortunately, I know of you now through this video Mr. Smith. It's heartening to see India of bygone era in film and I cherish it. Thank you! I'd like to ask if you'd change anything in your view about india that is now to the one you saw during the time this film was produced.

Finally reading “The World’s Religions” which has been on my bookshelves for years. I was lucky enough to see Dr. Smith talk at UCLA in 2006. What year was this video released?

We should read Swami Vivekananda literature to understand real India. As we can see here in this video people are worshiping fraud Sai Baba. If we see god in those frauds and not in ourselves, we are not seeing God.

You don't get it. Sad. Without a true Guru you cannot realize God. Never. You may think you have "god" in you, but that is delusional hopefulness to make you feel better. You can't pull yourself up by your bootstraps - you help from a Guru.
