The tour guided misinformed you there- untouchability is not practiced in Hindu dharma, it lies decadent and destroyed and anyone if dares practise it has legal punitive sanctions against him/her under Article 17 of Indian Constitution as well as SC/ST prevention of atrocities act and Prevention of Civil Liberties Act.
