India's Exotic Meats!! Goa Goes Too Far!!

As a person who grew up and still lives in a Portuguese community in the South Coast of Massachusetts, I was also fascinated by the colonies in Goa and also in Macao. Basically everyone living here, has last names like Silva, Sylvia, Silveira, Gomes, Fernandes, Pereira, Alves, etc. and when watching travel and cooking shows, I would see Chinese an Asian Indians with those last names and it's sort of surreal. But one thing I know, and anyone who has eaten Portuguese cuisine knows, that anywhere the Portuguese went they brought some of the best food on earth. Combine it with the great cuisines of India and China and you get downright magic. I am a bit surprised I don't see more dishes with chouriço, linguiça, and bacalhau though.

My Mama cooked beef tongue when I was a kid and I hated it! But!!! I really hated any kind of meat as a kid because I worked in my uncles slaughter house!! It turned me against meat until I became an adult. I still don’t like allot of beef products. Love this channel!!!

As a point of reference for the future, when fish of any species, such as the whole shark are butchered, these are called (in English) "Steak" (search "fish steak")...or..."Spine Steak"..(search as "spine steak" regardless of species of animal)...Fillet is always boneless and free of bone. In fish species, it is parallel to the spine and never bisecting it...whereas "steak" is a perpendicular cut bisecting the spine...

Be careful....the RSS will get upset!! The CM of Goa who belongs to the RSS like PM Modi said last year that they will "wipe off" anything Portuguese in Goa. We Catholics of Goa knew what that meant!! They are very cunning and crafty with double talk and then say we didn't say that. We have seen enough verbal attacks on us Christians for the last 10 years. The BJP RSS came into power with just 33% of the vote, not the majority, but they BOUGHT the MLAs from the Congress! They offered the Congress MLAs enough to even sell their mothers. That is why the BJP RSS has been ruling for the last 10 years...they BUY MLAs and then Modi claims to the whole world, that it is great Democracy in India!!

I wasn't aware that eating shark was contentious, and It is sold in fish and chip shops as "butterfish, or Flake". The practice of cruelly killing sharks by removing their fin is not only illegal but wasteful, and I would never eat shark fin soup..... however🍲🍜🍚 I agree, and the shark looked delicious, number 2 the Skate (stingray).

it is Vindhalo....it was changed to Vindaloo as most Indians could not pronounce Vindalho...or vinha d'alhos or simply Vin d'alho, which simply means 'wine and garlic'.. I find it so annoying that just because they can't pronounce certain words, they change them!! Just like Panjim...which they could not pronounce so they changed it to Panaji! Imagine if we Goans couldn't pronounce Delhi, and we changed it to something we like and can pronounce??? The rest of India would be up in arms!! It is like you will condemn if the word Goanese (instead of Go-an which is just like Indi-an) as it is related to Portuguese...again the RSS is responsible for the hatred. Why would be such a big deal if some people use Goanese. We are taught even after 70 years, to hate the Portuguese instead of moving forward! They are upset we convert from Buddhists, Apostle Thomas and Barthélemy Christians, Hindu and Muslims ...to Roman Catholic. They make the assumption that we were all Hindu which is incorrect!! They have been rewriting history ever since 1961. We are very happy to be Christian. They get upset when we say that. They should ask all those from their community that have gone to Christian countries!! Why are they fleeing to Christian countries? Instead they pick on us all the time! Yet when the PM of Portugal offered thousands of immigrant visas for Indians to emigrate to Portugal, the current PM to jump up and shout "Viva Portugal". Yet we Goans were threatened with arrest if we said the same phrase when Portugal was playing in the World Cup. Nothing but HATE!! Sadly it looks like we will have to suffer for another 5 years under a man who made himself into a God.
