Ah the forgetfulness of my fellow countrymen. Ever heard of the EMERGENCY where most of the opposition leaders were imprisoned because Congress welcomed political discourse? After 2014, is it the government stopping you from criticizing it? Most of the times you'll find that it is your friend or neighbour or a family member opposing your views. These people who are the unspoken majority who were denied a voice were able to speak up. This is problematic for the pre 2014 brigade because their policy of minority appeasement is not getting many buyers. Also social media has given ordinary citizens like me a platform to speak my mind, put forward my views and also get a hold of what others just like me are thinking about the matter. If more people disagree with my points of view, I will face greater opposition when I put those views forward. That is how healthy democracies work. You can speak against the government and you should. If your fellow citizens agree with you, they will support you. Otherwise they will oppose you. That's just democracy. If other people disagree with you that doesn't mean that you cannot say what you want to say. If you don't like the current government you can always vote them out of power. Our government is elected, not selected. If enough people think they are harming the country they won't get elected.
