At last, Palki I’m so glad that you put out this information as I’m always concerned and aware of the harm processed food can cause. I’ve always cooked fresh from scratch as I’ve never been a fan of processed foods also being a vegetarian I learnt to cook from my aunts, and grandmother so glad they were passed down cooking skills and hence onto my children. It’s both fun and enjoyable. It’s the parents responsibility to ensure the future generations do the same. I’ve worked full time but managed to put good simple Gujarati food with hot rotis everyday which my children enjoyed. It gave me so much pleasure knowing they ate healthily. Secondly, videos on KZbin about Indian street food are ruined by adding on piles of cheese and laden with mayonnaise in almost all street food. Not only it looks disgusting but unhealthy. I don’t think in general the public are aware of health problems they may encounter in future. Please make public aware. Indian food is so misconstrued. It’s the most tastiest and healthiest.

Excellent presentation!! A few points to reinforce your very accurate position. 1) A study done in the early 90s on a Native American tribe in southern Arizona and their blood relatives in north Mexico (Sonora State) - the Americans in the tribe ate processed/fast food and were overweight with many health problems. Their relatives in Mexico ate traditional foods were not overweight and did not have those problems. 2) Today in the U.S., a report last week showed that only 25% of military-age people are physically fit enough to serve in the military, which means 75% are not (from a combination of sedentary lifestyle and being overweight). 3) It is common knowledge to many here (in the U.S.) that we have been lab rats for the processed food/pharma/chemical additives industries since just after World War II. As a friend in the healthcare industry told me... "We don't cure disease, we treat disease." The money to be made is in treating, not curing. 4) the lyrics of a rock song from the late 1960s noted... "The food you feed your children is the cause of their disease." Even the hippies knew the truth. 5) There are many other examples but I'll leave it with this. A National Geographic magazine article from 2006 featured what was found in the blood of one of their reporters. They wanted to see if there were any industrial chemicals in his blood. They tested from only 350 or so chemicals out of the 100,000 sold in the U.S. The blood tests showed around 175 chemicals in his blood - including heavy metals, 16 pesticides, 10 dioxins, dozen of PCBs, Teflon (fluorine) and a host of others. The reporter was in his 30s and had never worked in industry. It is difficult today NOT to be a lab rat. Anything a person can do to minimize their exposure will help, even a little. Thanks again Palki, for this report.

@PSA782 жыл бұрын
That's a false dichotomy, we do not simply add or remove years of our life just because something is cooked in a certain location. In reality preservatives help supply food to people that couldn't get them otherwise, children are under developed in some countries, people starve to death and ~10% of the greenhouse gases can be accounted for by our food waste (that number keep growing as organic food is getting more popular, and that farmland is delivering less food). She should be ashamed of herself for spreading this misinformation, it wouldn't take long for them to do actual research on the subject. 🤦♂

The most processed food I have now is chocolate once a month. I still have cakes and cookies, pasta, curry - everything, except I make it from scratch. No processed food means no hormone-altering chemicals, means no insane food habits. Walking 15km/day in London - getting fat, walking less now - but in much better shape. Also, I cook curry in bulk and keep in fridge so that I can use it next 2-3 days. Include fruits in your diet. Start small and eventually you’ll get used to it. I just used to cook Maggie but now I can cook at least 2 proper meals a day. Now I don’t even remember when I bought frozen pizza and all. Also, buy stuff like Dal, Wheat from Indian stores. Even though they are expensive and you’ll feel like not buying at that price, it’s still less than what we pay for a drink or pizza. We were taught the healthy 'margarine' in the late 1980s in UK and Western countries and that 'butter' is the heart disease contributor. Last few years they reversed this myth as they found out margarine causes serious health issues whilst butter or ghee in fact breaks down and is healthy as long as we are not sedentary and that we exercise regularly.

Butter is unhealthy, gives cholesterol, and causes heartburn and heart problems too. People shouldn't eat too much fat no matter which kind. You think it's ok for people to eat a lot of butter? You think that if you like something that makes it healthy? Well some people like junk food but that doesn't make it healthy. Check out Plant Based News.

She recently tested positive and was home sick with Covid. She also had a flu-shot and will need another one soon for this fall here in the US. The mortality rates for those like her with so many vaccines have been rising; at first slowly and now more rapidly. It is going to get worse. Pre-packaged, take out and dine-in foods are ruining the health of many millions worldwide. I have completely stopped eating packaged foods almost 6 years back. I am not consuming any sort of preservatives, artificial colours, fragrances, artificial sweeteners or what not. It changed my body, mind and soul for the better. I don't eat refined sugar, added salt, flouridated toothpaste, and refined flour noodles anymore. I am totally dependent on home cooked food. And if I don't have time or have a busy schedule I prefer fruits, sprouts, soaked nuts, buttermilk, home made curd for a quick fix of hunger. All my personal care products are free from harmful chemicals. ❤️

Amazing episode! I have been a vegan for many years and eat only One Meal A Day (the OMAD diet!). Have not eaten any packaged food in ages! Never felt more energetic! I use an Instant Pot to steam all vegetables. My staple meal includes pasta, barley, quinoa, lentils, chickpeas and a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. I also regularly consume chia seed, hemp seed, flax seed and eat a variety of nuts in moderation. The only supplement I take is Vitamin D and B12. I live in Canada and I cannot get adequate amount of Vitamin D. B12 comes from the soil so I have to take a supplement. I walk at least for an hour a day, live just a few minutes from the beautiful Niagara Falls, work two jobs (16 hrs/day), and never feel tired! No one could have presented this topic with so much passion than Palki! She is the best anchor! The food industry has been lying to us for decades! It does not take too much time to cook your meal. I just steamed two packs of mushrooms from COSTCO in under 5 minutes in my Instant Pot!!! I always half-steam the vegetables, so it's like you are eating it almost raw!

I tried to have one meal a day once but i felt little weaker and dizzy
@dinomustafa2 жыл бұрын
@@ankithmallya141 It depends on what you eat in that one meal. It has to be balanced and should have enough calories. You need to change the variety of foods that you eat to get all kinds of nutrients. You don't need to get all required nutrients in one meal as you can only consume so much food in one meal. Here's an example of the one meal I eat: one cup each of the following: barley, beets, bok-choy, green peas, carrots and add to that two table-spoons each of chia seeds, hemp seeds and flax seeds. Next day, I changes this to totally different combination. I maintain a chart with all vitamins and minerals and their daily requirements for optimal health. I figured out from each of the food that I eat how much of vitamins and minerals are contained and I plugged them in the chart, including calories. You want to make sure you get adequate amount of all these nutrients. Then, throughout the day I eat small snacks such as dates, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, etc. Don't consume these nuts in excess as they can turn out to be harmful, just a handful! In the afternoon I make a fruit smoothie with an apple, banana, black/blue berries, strawberries and avocado, etc. After 4 pm, I completely stop eating anything until next day morning. Our body's circadian rhythm considerably slows down after 4 pm and it doesn't want you to throw in too much food! Many people find it hard to lose weight because they have a big dinner, watch TV for a while and go to sleep when the body is not at all equipped to digest that big dinner. I hope all this makes sense!

Right. Packaged food can’t be totally avoided. But that should not be the first resort for quelling the hunger. There’s need to look at other packaged food items which are not industrially processed and packaged. Typical items are fried snacks, savouries, pickles, chutney in powdered form, chikkis, to name some. These are usually made in homes or cottage industries and packaged in polythene bags with a descriptive label and quantity.
