He didn't start the revolt in 1857. Other people dud later they moved towards dekhi n declared him as their king n after lot of convincing he got ready to lead the revolt n they lost it. The leading of revolt was out of desperation. Bcoz if you see his life under EIC you'll know why he gor ready to lead it bcoz under them he was just their slave in whose name EIC used to rule his pand n Collect taxes. N they used to give pension to him. EIC Kotwal of his darbar had more power than him. Anyone can be ready to fight in his situation lol🤦
