Im from Pakistan and this is amazing! Landing a lunar module all the way towards the dark south pole was a very courageous task to begin with. My heart sunk while watching it live when the probe's trajectory deviated and then the sudden dismay on the faces of those amazing men and women was heart wrenching. They literally worked for this so hard! Respect to the whole team! I hope that on board computers may have landed the module on its own safely and I hope they can restore communication at a later day! I hope so!

You're completely forgetting Bersheet, which crashed just 5 months ago with a good hundred thousand people watching live as they said the engine had failed and watched as the telemetry froze at 150 metres above the ground travelling hundreds of kilometres per hour. The lander was programmed to navigate on its own during the last 15 minutes of its descent. It's possible that it may have landed inside a crater or some other location from where the orbiter is not able to catch its signal. We'll know once all the data is analysed.

Dr Kailasavadivoo Sivan, the chairman of ISRO has a very humble beginning. He was born and raised in a poor farmer family.
