Ahh. Those good ol' days when we 🇮🇳 and USSR were best friends which kept 🇺🇸, 🇨🇳,🇬🇧 and 🇵🇰 under check. USSR not only helped modernise our Indian military but also helped us in many other fields like industry, agriculture, etc. USSR also went against the whole world in 1971 to support us in the war. I think we will never get such a loyal friend in the future days to come. We indians will never forget our soviet friends. USSR still live in every indians heart. ❤ 💙 💜

Back then India couldn't develop because from 1947 - 2000 we fought 7 wars. (3 small scale wars with China, 3 small scale wars with Pakistan and 1 full fledged war with Pakistan). And we were also sanctioned for testing nuclear weapons in 1974 and hydrogen bombs in 1998.

The real friend is who walks in with you when the whole world walks out against you. This example perfectly matched India USSR relationship. Without USSR, India as stands today wouldn't have been same. These days most are fans of USA+ Pakistan+ UK due to materialism. But all are forgetting that without Soviet, India was gone due to USA. Soviet even protected us from Chinese aggressions in the borders. Most importantly - There was someone who put a check on the other superpower and countered so the world won't be under full influence and indirect control of only one power. Also it somewhat had sense of unity which can be used as moral and had management of a very large area.
