We must accept the reality and intersting thing is that no matter it is army or railway or IT dept or education dept , everywhere there is total chaos. When there is chaos in almost all spheres of society ,then how can we expect order in Armed forces, people in Army have not come from Mars, they belong to same society. We as a society are not doing enough for our future and for making this country strong.political leadership is always busy in election, how many times ,we see our ministers talking about national defence. Civil war like situation has been created with divisions being sown across various stratas of society for political gains. Parliamentary Committee on Defence ought to act as THE overarching PLATFORM and Vehicle . National security is a political objective. For Armed Forces it must be to assist the political leadership to resolve armed threats to national land mass. The follow up will be to assess and build the capability required for appropriate support to negotiation( Or war.)

He's an intellectual and writer now so he should be assessed on the power of his ideas and skills of communication not on any sort of political affiliation. But I see he has been a defense writer and analyst for 30+ years and has written at least 3 books and many articles and academic papers. He may have done more for the defense of India from outside the army than from within it. There are plenty of officers who just think whatever they are told and wait to collect a pension. If you don't have to worry about promotion you can say what needs to be heard not just what ever the big bosses what to hear.

A nuclear force with 500 nuclear weapons is what controls deterrence even with small nuclear weapons. Reactor grade plutonium with thermal bridges can be used to build more weapons, Indian missiles are top notch. Even with limited nuclear yields of 10-20 kilotons and perhaps 1-2 kilotons for fizzled bombs - there is still power in numbers AND mass swarming precision strikes that are hard to intercept and stop. For non-war skirmishes, Indian forces are adequate and merely need "more and better" using western and Israeli technology - all easily available. Indian forces are actually better trained than Chinese forces AND have better geographical advantages in the eastern border. So while India needs better cyber warfare its not like China is really particularly ahead for skirmishes.

If there is any deficiency, from this video, it's evident that it is in the mental faculties and motives of Pravin Sawhney. Theaterisation is a means to achieve an end. The Indian Armed Forces do not do organisation restructuring for purposes of form but for the relevance of the content. Well, it's a democracy and there is free speech. Excellent program, Dr. Sawhney. I am still determining what Gen. (R) Nirvana was implying while talking in the presence of current Army Chief, Ge. Panda. However, it shows the incompetence of the Indian Army at the highest level, which is sad. Indian taxpayers pay to upkeep with military demands and needs like Rafael’s, yet the top tier leadership is lost? Chinese gave a hard time to the dedicated men of the Indian Army in Ladakh; they always served what they were asked to do. Yet, military planners and generals of former CDS Late, Gen. Rawat and Mr. Niravnae have no clue about their strategic, operational, and tactical challenges while meeting a technologically very advanced adversary, China, and Pakistan, to a certain extent.
