I was 12 years old when I heard this record in 1971. I loved it then and as an aging man it still brings out the 12 year old. So glad you played it and enjoyed it.

Perhaps the most formidable twin guitar attack (more like assault) ever seen in rock history! Having Duane Allman and Forest Richard (Dickey) Betts together on guitar in the same band just wasn't fair to most other bands of the day or any day since for that matter.

Imagine them on stage jamming with Peter Green till many hours after midnight. That is what I saw in November 1970. Standing ten feet from three of the world's best guitarists.

A great old blues tune done to perfection by the Allman Brothers. It's cute that the meaning is lost on Kirti.

What a great reaction- I knew you’d like this! I’ve been watching your reactions for a long time, and have been waiting for you to do anything from this album-every song is a masterpiece, and it is the greatest live album ever, in my opinion. Also, both of your reactions reminded me of your reactions to another great jam band ( yet a distinctively different sound) - the Dave Matthews Band. Please do some more from Live at Filmore East, and some more live Dave as well.

Agree with many others, arguably the greatest live album ever produced, you should have an all southern rock week, would be nice to watch Kirti smile the whole week, Gregg Allman was married to Cher Bono at one time, they have a son. Gregg passed away a couple of years ago. The Allman Brothers led Lynyrd Skynyrd and many other great southern rock bands out of the southwest portion of Florida during the 70's. This song is a cover a song supposedly first done by Elmore James in 1961. Copying from another source..... In this punchy, dynamic performance, the Allmans demonstrated their abilities in the blues-rock roadhouse style. Guitarist Dickey Betts sets up the Sonny Boy Williamson boogie vamp, while Duane Allman comes in over the top with bottleneck slide guitar part, after which vocalist Gregg Allman narrates the drama of the song. Betts takes a solo, Gregg instructs the audience "Ahh, put your hands together," and Duane Allman and Betts trade guitar licks. Duane Allman then takes the solo. Bassist Berry Oakley actually comes in a beat early after the guitar trade, but the band recovers quickly, and then drops out as Gregg carries the vocal a cappella, after which the band returns for the "Big Ending".

This definitely makes sense LOL. He is with a married woman, there is only one way out of the building and someone who he thinks may be her husband is between him and the door.

I like to think that the character that is being portrayed here is the same guy from Whipping Post. Only this time the shoe is on the other foot. This time he is with someone else's woman and about to get caught. In Whipping Post, his friends tell him he has been such a fool. In this song, he is foolish to be there in the first place. The guy can't get it right. That is the essence of The Blues.

There's an even better version at kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpi7gKqAhLqrjtE , recorded about 3 months later. In the picture, left to right: Jaimoe (drums); Berry Oakley (bass); Duane Allman (lead and slide guitars); Butch Trucks (drums); Gregg Allman (vocals and keyboards); and Dickey Betts (lead guitar and vocal on "Blue Sky"). Play it loud!
