Kohlrabi is eaten in every KASHMIRI family like me almost one or two days in a week its so enrich and healthy and also we have three different types of tea one is that everyone drinks is Lipton tea (sugar tea) ,another one is sheer chai ( SALT TEA) its not found anywhere in india but in kashmir and thats my fav tea only when you put cream on top of it, and also kashmiri kehwa that whole india knows that its healiest drink that you can have here ,i have enormous list to share that you can try.

Good to hear Indian restaurants spread across the world. Its heartening to see and hear Mumzies and Papa enjoying there food. Seems like you both have taken a liking to the Indian food. As for your question, Kashmiri dish is served across India, with Rogan Josh, Kashmiri Pulao, Dum Aloo, Kashmiri Paneer dishes along with their desserts being the most famous of all.. Kashmiri dishes are on the sweeter side and mild...Kashmir is the major supplier or Saffron spice, which is the costliest of all spices..

Rogan josh , curried lamb cooked with tomatoes, Kashmiri chillies and fennel seeds is quite popular. Kashmiri dum aloo which you had is another popular dish. I have a Kashmiri cuisine book with me and the difference I found with the north Indian food is the use of fennel seeds and dry ginger powder which gives the Kashmiri food its distinct taste.They also use local exotic flowers like lotus stems, saffron threads and alkanet flower or root in their preparations.
@Observer998885 жыл бұрын
Sir One or two words aboutKashmiri dishes. They are consumed mostly with rice not traditionally with Nan. Kashmiris are rice eaters as the staple diet is rice. I am telling you this because I hail from that place only. Second do try some non veg dishes. Well you have two types of cuisine here. One type is that of native hindus other is of native Muslim called Wazwaan. Waza four letters word mean a chef waan means a spread of the items at a shop. But in summary it means the kitchen spread by that by a group of chefs as many dishes are prepared once a waza is engaged to prepare the dishes for marriages or other occasions. But yes the other difference is that in Muslim waazwaan extensive use of onions & garlic is made while as in those non veg dishes of Hindus the use is limited or mostly missing. So hope to listen from you if you have some opportunity to taste the non-veg Kashmir cuisines. Yes one more fact the yellow rice that you ordered is mostly made in our homes on some auspicious occasions like on Birthday celebration day.

Edit: It seems after watching your Indian rural village videos you guys are next level Indian foodies and also appreciate the culture. Kudos!

The Kohlrabi is a part of staple food in this part of the world. Not just the cooked version but the pickled version is equally good. And the pickled version is available only in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir being a part of it’s cuisine. If the pickled version of kohlrabi is available you should definitively try that.

Try having the curry with your rice. If you want to enjoy spicy dishes Mumzies you should ask for curd or yogurt. The purpose of curd is to cool down your stomach and helps in digestion. Because of this cooling character it’s consumed less in winter. Lassi is a good option as well. You can even mix your curry with some curd it changes the dish. After all the spicy kicks it will soothe your tongue and throat. Enjoy!

correct , eat the naan first and then eat the rice with the gravies. That how we do it in India. Sadly Kashmiri cuisine isn't as widely available in the rest of India even though the dishes are fantastic. The same goes for far east states such as Assam, Nagaland, Sikkim.

Hello Mumzies & Papa, in India we have 29 States 7 Union Territories and every state has its own flavors in north more black pepper, clove used but as you go south they used more red pepper or chilli flakes/peprika. So its usual for you to try new flavors in Indian restaurant, Chaats are from middle Part of India, and the Kashmiri food you are eating is from Northest part of India which is heavy with snowfall, so you taste the the different flavor

I'm a native Kashmiri and I want to tell you that except for the Collard Greens none of the dishes are Kashmiri. Try finding "Kashmiri Wazwaan" somewhere. Kashmiris are voracious meat-eaters and wazwaan dishes are mostly meat based.

Kashmiri is one of the most popular cuisine (especially non-vegetarian). You will never have enough Kashmiri viewers/subscribers for recommendations because their Internet connection is very 'patchy.' Kashmir is the most 'restive' state of India and the first thing the federal government does when it anticipates 'trouble' is to cut off their internet/broadband/mobile connection.

This format is more enjoyable for me as a viewer but I feel that you might not be eating in peace because the camera is capturing all your moves full time. Palak paneer and eggplants are eaten all over India and the preparation is different everywhere. The yummiest eggplant dish is bhagare baingan . Dum aloo is a dish that belongs to Kashmir and it is not at all spicy. It is cooked only in yogurt and tastes mainly of fennel seeds , cardamom powder and ginger powder. I learnt the dish from a kashmiri and it doesnt look like this when I cook it ( I am not a chef and I am not from kashmir so I might be wrong). Welcome to Qatar .
@IndiCuriouswithMumziesPapa5 жыл бұрын
Hi RV! Thank you for the feedback!! We are actually comfortable with the camera, we even had 2 cameras capturing us simultaneously 🥺that's how we are able to change the camera angles without pausing. We are wondering if there are Kashmiri restaurants throughout the rest of India? We know Delhi has food from the entire country, but what about other regions? This dum aloo was very different from what you describe, there was no yogurt in it at all! When we only have a sample size of 1 in our trial, there's no way to know if a dish is not how it is supposed to be... guess we just need to increase our sample size!! 😋 Are there many Indian restaurants in Qatar? I've been wondering that as well 😊As always, thank you so much for the lessons RV!! Much love to you!!! ❤️❤️❤️

@@IndiCuriouswithMumziesPapa Hello sir! Greetings from India. As far as i know, there are not many kashmiri restaurants across India. You would only find them in metropolitan cities like Delhi & Mumbai. Reason behind that is, Kashmiris generally migrate in very less numbers to other states. It has restricted the influence of their culture and cuisine to a very limited area. The general information regarding their cuisine is not very wide spread plus the absence of their restaurants in other states makes it very difficult for people to get familiar with the taste of their cuisines & culture . I too have never tasted them even though i live in delhi. In India Thai, Italian, Chinese dishes are far more famous vis-a-vis kasmiri dishes and are easily available at every corner. It is a sad reality that Kashmiri cuisines, despite being so delicious and different are not very popular. I wish this will change in coming future. I hope this much information is suffice for your curiosity.☺️ Thanks.
