It's fantastic to have this series here on KZbin, only because someone decided to record it and upload it. I don't understand why they don't make such old programmes available online. Huge thanks to the uploader, big fan of Sir Dalrymple here.

Dalrymple of course forgets to mention the slaughter of Hindus by the Islamic invaders... well the same is happening in the UK now, where initially peaceful when the Muslims numbers were small but now larger numbers and you can see the increased antisemitic attacks .. Dalrymple is a foolish man whose sympathies are with his Abrahamic beliefs and followers

Excellent video with Mr Dalrymple, I like his well researched books. Thanks. I remember my young days of tolerance during 1970s between us Muslims and Hindu and Sikh....in Mombasa, Kenya. Shahid

Abdal Hakim Murad (Timothy J. Winter, Cambridge University): "the jurists of classical Islam reached the conclusions that Islam requires consistent military action against unbelieving peoples unless a treaty exists with them". The Sufis also thought that it was important to engage in the lesser jihad (i.e., warfare for the sake of spreading Islamic rule). Even Rumi writes about this. Sufism is not the hippy version of Islam.

Terrible language skills for someone so fond of India and who's lived in India half his life; but still, a great story teller.😊

Scary predictions of this hindutva fellow. We see it today in everyday life. When will India be sane? How can one go about correcting history's injustices? Won't it be an eye for an eye leaving everyone blind? I suppose people are becoming increasingly polarised not only in India but throuout the world. Count all the right wing govts in the world.

William Dalrymple who everyone praising, forgets that Islam is a imported religion from Middle East, and not from the Subcontinent, it's very natural and ethos is unlike the region it invaded, Vedic Religion has allowed religions from everywhere as long as it doesn't impose it's ego on others religion in the Subcontinent....something Islam does all time .. Dalrymple is someone who hankers for the British Raj maybe he should make documentary about what his people and how the British systematically robbed and destroyed India's GDP ..this documentary is about Islam and he is showing Islamic influences.. he is just a apologist for Muslim destruction of Hindu temples and items, he should concentrate on what his people did to the Subcontinent which was, to rob it blind, instead of praising what the previous invaders did.

@MichaelLoda unfortunately I have a different take on him, my opinion and I dont wish to impose my thoughts on you and you shpuks have your own take on it and rightly so, I think he is apologist, maybe he should research more into the real culture of the Subcontinent, or go to Pakistan and write real history of that land, let's see where it takes him.
